Secure Patient Privacy Information in Medical Images
The rapid development of the Internet and the hospital information system offers new means of sharing and remote access to patient data. Medical information, such as the medical image, is often closely related to patients’ privacy which needs to be kept secret. In order to protect patients’ privacy, medical images should be encrypted after they were taken. For this purpose, an effective application named Secure Patient Privacy Information in Medical Images is developed which helps in securing the patient data image medical images. Furthermore, the detail information in the medical images is also enhanced. Our system also provides the facility to electronically deliver the secure information and the picture in the same file.
With the elevation of technologies, most of the hospitals and medical centers have shifted their traditional patient information systems to electronic information systems. By doing so, they have made it easier to manage the information efficiently and effectively. The biggest advantage this evolution has provided is the ease of access to patient information and easy access to medical specialists, hospital management and the patient.
The ease of access has raised various issues regarding the security of a patient’s medical information. Threats like theft, illegal accessing and unauthorized tampering have uplifted, according to a survey of the HIPPA institute of the United States of America, the data of around 50 million people were illegally accessed in the year 2017. Medical data is confidential data of the patient, and no one likes getting their medical information to get tampered and illegally accessed.
To overcome this problem, we have introduced a desktop application named Secure Patient Privacy Information in Medical Images. This application will secure the patient data and make it private, and improve the system in such a way that it will be robust against tampering attacks.
The techniques we are using in this application are Reversible Data Hiding (Watermarking). By using this technique, the medical data of the patient will be embedded in the medical image, in such a way that the quality of the image will not be affected in any way. Background Segmentation is applied to separate the foreground and background of the image. Pre-processing will be applied to find the values of the pixels. Furthermore, we will use Data Authentication to ensure that the data we getting in the output is the same as the input. Encryption and Decryption will be applied on data for further security, encryption will convert the data into the binary stream then it will be embedded into the medical image. Hence securing the patient medical data by limiting access to authorized personnel.
Electronic patient records (EPR) contain the medical data of patient which include patient medical history and other medical information. Due to increase of illegal access and unauthorized tempering of the patient medical data become insecure. As the major issue in medical system is security and privacy of patient data. The patient medical data needs to be secured and private. For this we are proposing the system in which patient medical data will be secured and private in medical images in such a way that the image quality will not be affected.
We will build a desktop application in which we input medical image and medical data. In medical image we will apply RDH (Reversible Data Hiding) watermarking in such way that the patient medical data is secure and private. In medical data we will add redundant bits to authenticate the medical data after decryption. After adding redundancy, we will encrypt the medical data and binary stream is generated.
The binary stream will be embedding into medical Images in such away that the medical information of the patient is secured and private and also quality of images does not affect.
