Therefore, we aim to design an AI-Based Gunshot Detection system which strengthens the security of educational institutions in Pakistan. This system employs microphone sensors which detect sound while the ultrasonic sensors are used to triangulate the location where gun is fired, followed by Piezo Buzzer which detects high frequency and is interfaced with Camera. Using Wifi-module the hardware components is wirelessly connected to Incident Review Center (Destination location) using IOT. Through AI-Based technology the message is sent to an Android App that is particularly used for viewing the gunfire location to ensure, that patrolling officers reaches their by time. By executing such strategy the surveillance system is effectively enhanced.
Project ObjectivesWe aim to design a gunshot detection system using AI that helps to strengthen the security system:
- To design the AI based Gunshot Detector System which improves the security as well as safety of our University in a manner that this system will guide the police officers or (faculty responsible for security in an institution) to instantly reach where the gun fire has detected.
- To develop a smart monitoring and remote control for progression towards a safe city.
- To develop an android application/website which would provide the essential location to police officers to reach the concerned location
The Gunshot detection system contains hardware as well as software.
In this project we proposed an appropriate solution to gunshot detection problem, initially we will install microphone sensors and ultrasonic sensors on different location, both these sensors will work in parallel with each other. Piezo buzzer and camera are also installed in this system. Both these components compliment each other. When we will play gunshot sound using audio clip then the sound waves will be produced which will be detected by microphone sensors, the distance of the incident will be analyzed using ultrasonic sensors followed by Piezo buzzer which experience high frequency and compare it with common frequency of the bullet to ensure whether the gun has been shot. When the Piezo buzzer is triggered by the high frequency sound it will send signals to the arduino which will activate the camera to take pictures of the vicinity and analyze the results. The microphone sensor also works as a voice recorder it generates sound waves as an output the Wifi-Module connected with Arduino uses these sound waves as an input and send this audio file to the local host (server). We will design a smart module containing arduino along with GPRS/GSM modules, which will send information to the Incident Review Center (i.e laptop as our main server) wirelessly using IOT Furthermore, information of coordinates is provided to AI based system, the patrolling officers receives the coordinates information using android app with an alert sign pinned on map.

Technical Details of Final DeliverableSince our project is based on many euipments the brief detail of each of given below :
Microphone sensor is used in our survillance system to perceive the sound waves and detect the sound intensity.Whereas ultrasonic sensor uses SONAR to determine the distance of an object . It offers excellent non-contact range detection with high accuracy and stable readings in an easy-to-use package from 2 cm to 400 cm or 1” to 13 feet. Piezo buzzer provides its services by comparing the sound with sound frequency to verify that the sound experienced by the microphone sensor is of gun.Moreover,the camera will work in parallel with Piezo buzzer when it receives confirmation from buzzer,it will instanty take snaps of the location.Futhermore,Wifi-module ESP8266 which is a small chip is used to communicate with the server,it sends the sound in form of audio clip to our database and finally to android app.
Zigbee modules are also used around which our whole implementation circulates,Zigbee devices can transmit data over long distances approximately from 10 to 100m.Zigbee devices are used to make a mesh network to connect all the nodes wirelessly together
