 To develop mobile and pc application named “VR Tour of Manasik-e-Hajj” in order to provide the easiest way to do Rituals of Hajj and can get the opportunity for the people who are going to do Hajj. ‘VR Tour of Manasik-e-Hajj’ is the mobile application that allow user to do rituals of Hajj virtually and do tour of Holy places of Hajj Rituals before going there physically.

Project Objectives

To guide Pilgrims who are going to do Hajj for the first time by using a virtual reality depiction of the Holy city of Makkah. It is the virtual reality Hajj simulator intended to train people regarding the rites and rituals of Hajj in a realistic 3D simulated environment as well as offering a chance of virtual tourism.

The technology going to be used in project development will be Virtual Reality, Unity 3D, Blender, Maya and Sketchup for modeling and textures.

Project Implementation Method 3D MODEL CREATION

In the first phase of the project, we aim to create 3d models of character, Masjid-al-Haram, Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifa, Jamarat and have to map all the surroundings of the mentioned areas. Model creation is done using Blender; it is a powerful tool for detailed 3d modeling. Blender is a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, motion graphics, interactive 3D applications, and computer games.

TEXTURE IMPLEMENTATION

In the second phase we aim to apply the textures on 3d models we are using sketchup for texture implementation. SketchUp is a 3D modeling computer program for a wide range of drawing applications such as architectural, interior design, landscape architecture, civil and mechanical engineering, film and video game design.

IMPLEMENTATION OF MODELS IN UNITY

All the models with applied textures are imported in unity3d. Unity is used as game engine to create scenes, apply animations and for coding. The engine can be used to create three-dimensional, two-dimensional, virtual reality, and augmented reality games, as well as simulations and other experiences. The engine has been adopted by industries outside video gaming, such as film, automotive, architecture, engineering and construction

CARDBOARD

Cardboard is a virtual reality SDK which is used in this application in order to make virtual reality environment for the VR Tour of Manasik-e-Hajj. Cardboard works based on gyroscope sensor, which is already, present in the mobile device, which supports virtual reality.

 VR CAMERA:

Virtual reality camera is configured and scripted in the application by the means of Cardboard SDK and which tracks the position of the user in an environment as well as the movement of the user’s head in order to give him/her a visionary effect in the virtual reality environment of the Manasik-e-Hajj.
