Smart Helmet
Project Area of Specialization Wearables and ImplantableProject SummaryAs we know that Helmet is a Compulsory device to be used by the bike riders. But in most parts of our country it is not used as usually as it should be, which increaeses the mortality rate due to head injuries in case of accidents. Our project is to ensure the use of bike helmet because this specific design will not allow the user to ride the bike untill the user has weared it.
The Project is a hardware based project called as Smart Helmet. Which will ensure the use of helmet while riding the bike. Because if the helmet is not put on head the bike will not start. We have put some sensors in the helmet and bike that with the coordiination with microcontroller will make sure that helmet is put on head.
Project ObjectivesThe main objectives of the Smart Helmet are
1. The safety of the rider, as long as the helmet is not put on the bike will not start.
3. It will be able to inform about any emergency , e.g if the person got into an accident.
3. It can not be stolen by thieves because when the helmet is not near the bike it can not be started.
Project Implementation MethodThe circuit is in two parts i.e bike side circuit and Helmet side Circuit
>>bike side circuit i composed of a microcontroller , gps gsm module , lcd display , vibration sensor , rf reciver end , decoder , buzzer and all are joined up together by a PCB circuit
>>helmet sider circuit is composed of a rf sender , flip swith , 3 ultrasonic sensors , buck boost converter (stepdown) , encoder , battery , and all will be put on a PCB circuit and put on a helmet
the rider when puts the helmet on the switch inside the helmet will be closed and if there is notting in the vicinity of ultrasonic sensor of the bike the RF will send a high pulse to the reciever on the bike and the rider will be able to start the bike . now if the person gets into an accident and the person falls and the ulltrasonic sensor comes in a range of 1 meter to the ground the bike will be turnned off and the emergency system will be called on by the GPS GSM module .
Benefits of the ProjectAs we know that more 50% of the population is using motor bike as their daily routine transport because it is an easy to buy and less fuel consuming ride. With this much use comes more probabilty of accident and mostly are head injuries which cause sudden death or disability for life if not see into immediately.
The benfits of this project are the safety of the rider as we know life is precious and also security of the bike because bike is an easy thing to steal now adays in Pakistan.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe final Shape of our porject will be a helmet thats smart enough to detect an accident and also the surety of wearing it. because it will be connected to the bike through RF module and will not let start untill it is put on.
