Secure Attendance Management System By Using RFID and GSM Technology
The primary purpose of an RFID system in this application area is to detect the presence and absence of the student data to be transmitted wirelessly by mobile device, called a tag, which is read by an RFID reader and processed according to the programmed instructions on the personal computer (PC).
First of all, a teacher swipes a card and is marked Present, then the timer is started and messages are sent to the students, that the teacher has arrived. As each student has given an RFID card, so if every student swipes his/her RFID card within the specified time, the student will be marked present. While the rest of the students will be marked absent and messages will be sent to their parents.
The ease with which RFID can be integrated into current operations depends on the openness and flexibility of the technology infrastructure especially the PC that will be used to collect and collate RFID data. The proposed system provides solution to lecture attendance problem through coordinated hardware and software design handshaking data communications between RFID tag and RFID reader serially interfaced to the digital computer system.

The backend database primarily deals with the storage of relevant information recorded by the reader and communicated by the middleware. For example, the middleware in an automated security control system will store all tag readings taken by the reader in the database. This helps create log entries for the system.
The new student registration is done by making modifications in the Arduino program. The new student’s details are added in program sequence. Data once stored in the database can only be modified by the system administrator.
The RFID reader used in this work operates at a frequency of 125 KHZ with an effective read range of 10cm only. A short-read range is preferred so as to maintain the authenticity and security of the attendance being recorded.
This model will make the attendance being done easily. The statistics of attendance will help the administration and parents to evaluate student performance.
Also, it will give relief to the CR by the text message being sent when the teacher swipes the card to inform students and to make attendance.
