Project Summary

An Embedded system-based project is proposed to identify potholes using some of the Machine Learning techniques. The project will be able to detect potholes using images captured by the camera connected to the Raspberry Pi. The information of that captured image will be communicated to the cloud storage for further actions. This project holds immense worth in the improvement of the road infrastructure by providing smart solutions for the potholes detection to road development authorities.

Project Objectives

  2. To submit potholes information to a cloud storage
  3. To visualize potholes data

Project Implementation Method

Software Development: The application will have Machine Learning and Representation Learning Components developed using Python development language

Hardware:

  1. Camera: It is used to capture the images in real-time,
  2. Raspberry pi: It contains the whole project and will control various software and hardware modules
  3. GPS Module: hat provides geolocation and time information to the GPS receiver anywhere.

Benefits of the Project

  • Improvement of the road infrastructure using smart detection solution.
  • Support the road development authorities in terms of data collection about potholes.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Our proposed model mainly deals with detecting potholes using Machine Learning techniques. The final version will be able to detect the potholes using Raspberry Pi and a camera. Once a pothole is encountered, the detected location is determined using a GPS module connected with the same Raspberry Pi and sent to the cloud storage which can be informed to the road authorities for repair.
