Project Summary

'Rent It' is an online platform for renting any type of property for any period of time. What features set out in system apart from other similar platforms which are already available in the market like Zameen and Olx, our platform is focused towards providing a small term rental place/space to travellers instead of focusing on the conventional renting. We aim to disrupt the hoteling/travelling industry by providing a platform where tourists can find a suitable place to live, as they can enjoying their tour and the place is also more economical as compared to hotels. Other than tourists, our platform have also features for people who have some additional space or maybe an additional room in their property which they are looking to rent out for a flexible amount of small time period. Another attractive feature, we als added 3D modeling in our system through which landlords can add a 3D tour of their property and the users can take look at the property in a 3D view.

Project Objectives

There is currently a void which needs to be filled when it comes to property renting. The renters and landlords alike find the process of finding someone or someplace dreadful. The aim of this project we hoped to achieve is to create a community comprised of both type of users through which can find the property renting process much easier and without getting a real estate agent involved making the process much more simpler.

An application or a platform where for renters will be able find places which are both location wise and need wise compatible to their needs easily and for landlords where they have a chance to compete in the property rental market much more effectively. Also, since students who have to stay at hostels face much hassle this platform will provide them with an easy solution to find a hostel of their choice. The application will allow landlord to place a vast variety of space type from empty plots which may be used to organize some event by a renter, roof where renter can have Bar BQ parties and only pay for the time they stay having an hourly renting system.

A web application which will provide an online service for users of two types i.e. landlords and renters. The application will allow landlords to put up their properties or spaces to be rented and manage them while the renters will be able to submit a proposal to rent the place put up by a landlord if it suits the needs of the renter all through the online service which this web application aims to provide. The application will also provide a platform for students looking for hostels easier to find places in their desired locations and in their own budget considering that they don’t have to rent the place for an entire month and they only to pay the rent for the days they wish to stay at the rented place.

Project Implementation Method

We started our project implementation by reviewing literature and going through research papers written on similar subjects and we went through similar solutions which are available on the market for brainstorming and to get more ideas on how we can improve our system and what other features we can add to our system. After doing a decent amount of review we started collecting data of tourists by visiting different tourism related blogs, forums and websites and groups on the internet to better understand the problems faced by tourists related to housing when they are on a tour. After data collection and literature review we made a feasibility report to assess if a platform like this is suitable for our market then we went ahead with development of the system.

Benefits of the Project

Our project aims to bridge the gap between tourists and local people of any area who want to let people stay in their property for a short term and earn in the process. By disrupting the hoteling industry like this, we aim to be beneficial to both tourists and landlords by providing more options and more economical places/spaces for toursits to stay in and a means for people with property to earn.
