All plastic laying around you is a resource, not waste. A material with great potentials, mostly intact qualities and a sea of opportunities waiting to be discovered. If treated correctly, this resource can become the beginning of something new. For us, our society and the planet at large. This resource, laying around everywhere, can become a source of income or an educati­onal tool for our community. We have to create machines to start working with plastic waste locally and make valuable things.

We just look at our province Sindh, there is a lot of waste plastic around us and it is cause for newly generated diseases. In our city Sukkur, people put the waste plastic in the side of the roads that cause for the traffic and make thing dirty and put in the river that damage the drainage system of the river and makes it block and water become our flow from the river.

After analyses, these problems we decide, to make the machine that converts the waste plastic in usable things.  

Project Objectives

3. To Give the new trend of making money to our people
4.  To make new things by using 3D design

Project Implementation Method

The project is hardware based, while the modern French 3D designing software (SOLIDWORKS) is used to design the hardware parts. The project will be implemented by through drawing using argon welding and 3D printing in Fabrication Lab of Sukkur IBA University. We will be using stainless steel sheets and iron bars, the modern French 3D designing software (SOLIDWORKS) is used to design the hardware parts.

Benefits of the Project

Reduce the number of waste plastic, make new things from waste plastic. Make rever clean and our street clean if our city is clean there will no any newborn diseases in our society, make new job opportunities for the poor people who have not any job.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The outcome of the project will be the melted plastic in wire form. The plastic bottles first crushed in a crusher then melted through an extruding machine at a high temperature about 250-degree centigrade.

The project will be working in a way that we collect the plastic, separate it by type and then crush it and make plastic in powder form. The powdered plastic then sent for melting and finally the wired plastic is collected at the end.

The machines apply heat to plastic, plastic melts, gets pressed into a mold or shape and is finally cooled to regain its solid state. Each machine is unique with its own workflows, outcomes, precautions, behaviors, and problems but the fundamental concept is the same.

Shredding

Once the plastic is sorted by their specific plastic type it’s time to shred it. At this stage, bigger plastic objects are chopped into small granulate to reduce its size, enable washing, store more efficiently and be used with the other machines.

Extrusion

The extrusion machine is a very powerful machine of the project arsenal as it can create unique products and can run continuously. Techni­cally, if we have enough plastic and a well-streamlined process you could be recycling a long time. With the extrusion machine, we can create filament, granulate or get creative working with molds. This technique nicely blends differently colored plastics together and outputs a homogeneous and smooth color, for example, if we mix black and white plastic together you will get a nice and smooth grey output.
