Project Summary

The Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) approach is a viable contender for deploying fifth-generation (5G) communication networks with high data rates, low latency, and massive connections. NOMA assigns non-orthogonal resources to customers without regard to time or frequency. On the other hand, Orthogonal Multiple Access (OMA) techniques allow resource allocation across orthogonal domains such as time, frequency, and code. The NOMA technique may be implemented in a variety of ways, but this study concentrates on the Power Domain implementation, which discriminates users based on the power level of the signal. Superposition Coding (SC) is employed at the transmitting end, while Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) is used at the receiving end. PDNOMA may also be extended to MIMO systems to expand the number of users that can be supported. Besides Power Domain, NOMA can be implemented in the code domain which, contrary to conventional CDMA, utilizes orthogonal coding instead of pseudo-random coding. In this survey paper basics of multiplexing are explained. Comparison of OMA and NOMA and then different ways to implement NOMA are compared. The difficulties in adopting these various solutions are also discussed.

Project Objectives

To form a communication system based on the non-orthogonal multiple access technique in the power domain.

Project Implementation Method

The project will be implemented using USRP and MATLAB/Simulink.

Benefits of the Project

5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, low latency , more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries.
