Project Summary

We are creating a Deep Learning based People Recognition Tool that will help in the recognition of
people. "Deep learning is an articial intelligence function that imitates the workings of the human
brain in processing data and creating patterns for use in decision making. Deep learning is a subset of
machine learning in articial intelligence (AI) that has networks capable of learning unsupervised from
data that is unstructured or unlabelled. Also known as deep neural learning or deep neural network".
Particularly this system will be provided a video and its function would be to identify the charac-
ters/people appearing in that continuous sequence of frames(Video).

Project Objectives

The objectives of this product are given below.
To automate the manual monitoring and labelling of videos in order to have a record of all people
with their identity.
Providing an intelligent video face detection tool to avoid delay due to lack of recognition and
data available.

Project Implementation Method

This project is intended to use Deep Learning to make the model learn about people that could possibly
be encountered along with python as a development language that has a number of libraries available
to serve the very purpose. "The model shall extract frames from a video and face within a frame. The
project will use face recognition API as well".

The development methodology of this project would be the "Agile Methodology" which is a part
of the software development process. "Agile is a process by which a team can manage a project by
breaking it up into several stages and involving constant collaboration with stakeholders and continuous
improvement and iteration at every stage. The Agile methodology begins with clients describing how
the end product will be used and what problem it will solve." Since the development of this project
is in the form of modules with the use of incremental delivery.

Benefits of the Project

The system will be detecting all the faces appearing in the video stream given as an input so this
project can be used by a number of entities for example educational institutions for recognising the
students' faces, for security purposes at all crowded places to keep a track of all the visiting individuals.
It can be used to recognise faces from any video in order to recognise them during a crime scene.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Security is a major concern in all of the domains nowadays. To cater that very concern, CCTV cameras
are deployed everywhere. Monitoring those cameras all the time they work, is a major cause of concern.
Manual monitoring of the CCTV cameras is a tedious task and not only takes a lot of time but also
require a great amount of human attention and processing for identication of individuals. Whenever
a suspicious activity or an incident is encountered at a certain location, the rst thing that comes up
as a help is the CCTV placed at that location, its operation and its smartness. Now, to look up the
people who passed, this tool will be of great help since it is going to recognise an individual's face from
a video and then label him/her.
