Project Title

Next generation infrastructure for data centers

Project Area of Specialization Cloud Infrastructure,Project Summary

Next-generation infrastructure for data centres covers both the Macro and Micro data centres. Macro data centres will be representing the Fog computing while the Macro data centres are for Cloud. Osmotic computing will be implemented for dynamically shifting the burden from cloud to fog and vice versa.

We will implement the completed infrastructure by using the opensource technologies and will share an easy to follow tutorial for the researchers to establish a test-bed for cloud/fog based osmotic computing

Project Objectives

To learn how to combine multiple Raspberry Pis for forming a private cloud

To learn the establishment of a private cloud stack using opensource solutions

To learn the establishment of a Fog computing layer

To learn the optimal integration of Fog and Cloud using the concept of Osmotic computing

To establish a test-bed for executing the existing approaches/algorithms of osmotic computing

To generate a developer-friendly tutorial for researchers to establish the same test-bed by themselves.

Project Implementation Method

We will be using the OpenStack, Kubernetes (k8) and docker for the software and multiple Raspberry Pis will be used for establishing both micro and macro data centres

Benefits of the Project

Main benefits is to find the best available approach/algorithm of osmotic computing after conducting experiments for comparative study.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverable will be containing a running solution of both micro and macro data centres and both of these will be based on multiple Raspberry Pis.

There will be a complete tutorial to replicate the same

There will be the results of the comparison of a few of the popular existing approaches/algorithms of osmotic computing
