Project Summary

Pakistan is currently facing a severe and multifaceted energy crisis. Electricity shortages exceeded 5,000 megawatts in 2022.The energy shortages are estimated to cost around 2 percent of GDP annually. This shortfall is the result of the failure, over successive governments’ tenures, to invest enough to expand power system capacity. Low and declining investment and savings rates (including in power) reflect macroeconomic weaknesses.

Energy management and power saving is the need of today world. Different techniques are developed to manage the shortage of power and to use it efficiently.

Photovoltaic system is a significant bio fuel, which shares a larger part of renewable energy. As the demands for solar electricity in recent decades has grown significantly. Intelligent monitoring has been given great attention in terms of increasing performance. A wireless platform has recently been combined with photovoltaic solar energy monitoring system including data collection from through wireless data transfer from different sensors and nodes. Energy management is a very important and complex topic nowadays, it involves selecting a number of energy producing sources that can power a range of loads while reducing loss and costs.

Project Objectives

The main objectives of the above projectare as follows.

  • To manage the load intelligently.
  • To schedule the loads based on power consumption.
  • To decrease the power consumption.
  • Proposing a new technique for intelligent management and power consumption reduction.

Project Implementation Method

Our system is presented with its hardware structure.

  • First data of energy consumption and energy crisis was collected.
  • Once it was done, we start planning how to reduce the power consumption of a typical house.
  • We first simulate it in Proteus software.
  • Then present it on hardware. 

 For intelligent management, we first make communication between floor and room using arduino and bluetooth module.

Voltage and current sensors are used to calculate power consumption of individual load. Then we schudule the loads using different techniques like battery percentage, power consumption, AC/DC settings, day/night scheduling etc.

We test our prosposed model using different loads and test the input and output of different sensors and nodes using oscilliscope and function generator.

Benefits of the Project

The final product of this project will benifit the user by reducing electricity bill. This will manage the loads intelligently and will reduce the power  consumption. The designed project will prevent the user from energy shortage.
