Project Summary

One of the primary worries in today's globe is the energy crisis, which is exacerbated by the rapid depletion of petroleum, diesel, and natural gas resources. In addition, environmental degradation is an additional component that contributes to resource depletion, which is a concerning warning. The Hybrid (Hybro) bike with digital characteristics is the system that we invented. This idea has a number of advantages for both the maker and the consumer, raising awareness of the benefits of using alternative modes of transportation. The Hybro Bike is a battery-powered bicycle. Solar panels can be used as an alternate source by incorporating them into the system. The Hybro bike will be powered by a battery and will receive its electricity from a direct source or a solar system, allowing it to drive. The main benefit of riding this Hybro bike is that it is easy to use, economical, and inexpensive. When compared to traditional modes of transportation, the efficiency of this system is evident. The specifications of several electric motorcycles used in a few countries are shown in the table below.

Project Objectives

Battery powered electric bikes are replacing the heavily polluting internal combustion engines nowadays, provided zero emission transportation in many parts of the world. In Pakistan, the biggest issue of E-bike is too charge it on a regular basis. For this reason we’re developing a prototype of Hybrid (Hybro) bike with digital features. In this development, we are adding an additional solar plates with battery and direct power supply to minimize our consumption & provide long distance coverage to our prototype.[

Project Implementation Method

When a load is applied on our bike the current consumption will be 15-18 Amp. The speed of the bike when the weight is 58 kg is around 33-36 Km/h. When the weight is around 69 kg then speed is approx 29-32 Km/h.The speed around weight 77 kg is approx 24-28 kmh. In no-load mode the current consumption will be 5 amp.The no-load speed will be around 40 Km/h. In off-load mode the current consumption will be zero amp. We're using  Lithiumine battery in which each cell has an individual voltage of 3.7V. We’ve made a battery bank out of 130 cells whose total voltage is 60V. The current is of 20 amp. It’s output is 5 amp. The voltage adjusted to 12.54 V to 4.18 V cell. The 20 amp pack can be charged by a 12v 100w solar panel in a few hours. When the bike is fully charged then it can travel around 30-35 Km. In maximum speed it will travel around 27 Km.

 Calculation:

Max speed= 35 km/h

35/60= 0.58 Now if we take approx 45 min in maximum speed= 0.58*45=26 Km (Approx).

Over charging protection is that When the battery is charged to the specified voltage, the protection board will stop the battery charging to avoid overcharging the battery, causing the battery to swell or even explode  and Over discharge protection is that When the battery is discharging, the discharge must be stopped in time when it reaches a certain voltage. If the capacity is completely discharged, it will cause permanent damage to the battery. Short circuit protection is that Avoid short-circuit causing adverse effects on the battery pack .Temperature protection is that When the battery is charged or discharged, the battery itself will generate heat. If the battery is discharged at high current when powering on, if the temperature is too high and the power cannot be cut off in time, the battery may be damaged or even exploded. The protection board with temperature protection function will stop the battery charging and discharging to protect the battery when the battery reaches the specified temperature.

Benefits of the Project

  • Electric motorcycles have fantastic power and are very fast. With 100% instant torque, you get a rapid acceleration that a fuel powered bike cannot match.
  • Electric bikes are naturally much quieter than fuel powered bikes. This is great for riders who like to talk or listen to music and it is much gentler on the ears, so you won’t need ear protection.
  • They’re not releasing carbon dioxide when they’re being driven, either, so operating an electric motorcycle doesn’t add to climate change.
  • Most vehicles are not best suited to city riding, but electric bikes are.  This is because the regenerative braking that comes with city riding, actually recharges the battery, keeping the power in your machine for longer.
  •  As a rule of thumb, most riders enjoy riding powerful motorcycles – whether they run on gas or on electricity. The good thing about electric motorcycles is that their power and performance aren’t impaired in any way.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Hybro bike is modification of existing bike and driven by electrical energy. It is suitable for both city and country roads, that are made of cement, asphalt, or mud. This bike is cheaper, simpler in construction & can be widely used for a reasonable distance travelling especially by school children, college students, office goers, villagers, postmen. It is very much suitable for young, aged, handicap people and caters the need of economically middle class of society. It can be operated throughout the year with sufficient cost. The most important feature of this bike is that it does not consume valuable fossil fuels thereby saving a lot on fuel expenses. It is eco-friendly & pollution free, as it does not have any emissions. Digital system will added it in will be easy controlling and to detect any faults. Solar panel will add an extra power to our source that also includes our direct power.
