Determination of Maturity Stages in Strawberry using Deep Learning
Strawberry fruit is famous all over the world for its good taste, mostly used in the food processing industry to make juice and strawberry pulp. Strawberry utilized in multiple forms like juice, jelly, ice-cream and candy etc. Strawberries were first introduced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly NWFP) in the early 1980s. It was adopted in Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan due to its special taste and high profitability. The major types of strawberries are Chandler lanterns, Corona, Douglas, Tufts, Gorilla and Toro. Punjab is not ideal for strawberry production the reason is climate, lack of quality runner plants, inadequate technologies for modern production and nutritional management, shortage of irrigation water, capital and high postharvest losses. Horticultural products are extremely unhealthy, due to unscientific causes, typically handling post-harvest losses are estimated at 25-40%. The loss of post-harvest in strawberries was 10 percent at farm level, 14 percent during transportation, and 23 percent in retail. Due to multiple maturity stages (large losses at the farm level were 6% immature and 4% overripe).In this project we are working on specific type of strawberry chandler, that is mostly cultivate in Punjab or all over Pakistan The quality selection of strawberry fruit is commonly determined by the human naked eye. The limitation of human perceptions can lead to several drawbacks such as inaccuracy, inconsistency, and time-intensive. Therefore, it needs a system that can automatically recognize the maturity stage of strawberry. In our proposed system, a non-destructive technique will be used to recognize the maturity stages of strawberries. Our aim is to build a system that determine the maturity stages of strawberry through image processing using texture and color as a parameter. Our project is based on a website and a mobile application which is used for the identification and classification maturity stages of strawberry. This system will help farmers to control post-harvest losses, accurate and timely distribution of strawberries at the retail level.
First we will install cameras in different areas of orchard which will help us in monitoring the maturity stages of strawberry. This camera will scan the features of every maturity stages at this specific place, data will be transforming through Cloud server then the system will generate an alert and provide us the details of that how much strawberries are in condition to pick up from orchard. The second way is that the person we doubt might be maturity stages can be recognized by scanning the image using mobile application.
This project is about developing system that will help in determination of maturity stages of strawberry through digital image processing using texture and color as a parameter. We provide batter solution for determine the maturity of strawberry which is much batter as compared to traditional method.
The main aim of this project is to reduce the human effort, inaccuracy, inconsistency, and waste of time.
By using the web application of this system determine the maturity stages of strawberry or classification by using our system.
