Project Title

Design and Development of a Smart Parking Using Vehicle Detection System

Project Area of Specialization Mechatronics EngineeringProject Summary

In the 1400’s transport began horses and later stagecoaches. In those days, diagonal parking were used commonly due to large size of cars.Horses were parked by tying them to posts, which were lined up, just our modern day parking lots of today have our cars lined up. This type of parking was used until the late 1800’s when automobiles were invented. In the 1960’s and 70’s small cars made their entrance into transportation.Perpendicular, Parallel and Angle parking are some common parkings now a days.our main objective of the project is to design and interface electric circuit, sensors and motors on software then to design and interface electric circuit, sensor and motors on hardware. After this to make scale model and then testing of final system for desired output. Our metodology will consist of to design a circuit on Proteus. Then we test our sensor and motor with the help of Proteus Software. We made circuit on hardware. Then we interface sensors and motor with the help of PIC16F877A.Then we design a Prototype by using Standard size of Parking area. Then we made its scale model with the help of standard scaling size of vehicle toy. Then we test our final system for desired output. working of our project will be as,at the main entrance a LCD is placed which tells the information of total slots and the number of slots free.´If any slot is free then motor open the gate after detection of vehicle at entrance. Then LCD placed on lot will tell about the total no. of slots, free slots and filled slots. After the vehicle parked the record will be updated on that lot as well as on main entrance.Incase of all slots are full then LCD placed at entrance will  displays “All Slots are full ”.

Project Objectives Project Implementation Method Benefits of the Project

It is an intelligent parking system that assists drivers in finding a parking space. Available spaces are usually indicated using a mobile application or digital displays next to roads to navigate drivers to a vacant spot. The benefits of this project is Time efficient. It is also Space efficient and Eco-Friendliness.Drivers are directed straight to an available parking spot. Therefore they waste fewer kilometers driving around in circles looking for vacant parking space.Another benefit is to reduce the carbon dioxide (Co2).This pollution will not directly harm human life.Carbon dioxide is the most significant contributor to greenhouse gases and therefore it contribute to climate change.Drivers are less distracted looking around for a spot because they know where they can park their car.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We will make arena for 32 parking slots. We use European comapact standard for smart parking system for vehicle detection in which leght of parking area is 48 feet, width of parking area is 52 feet and 6 inches, stall lenght is 16 feet and stall width is 8 feet. For one way traffic space will be 10 feet and space for two way traffic is 19 feet. Then we make it"s scale model by letting 1 feet equal to 1cm.According to these scaling,Parking length become 104 cm and parking width become 89 cm.The Stall lenght become 16 cm and Stall width become 8 cm.We will use 2 types of sensors to complete our arena of smart parking system.Ultrasonic Sensor and metallic sensor.Ultrasonic sensors measure distance by using ultrasonic waves. The sensor head emits an ultrasonic wave and receives the wave reflected back from the target. Ultrasonic Sensors measure the distance to the target by measuring the time between the emission and reception. The megnetic sensor is based upon the principles of electromagnetic induction. Megnetic sensors contain one or more inductor coils that are used to interact with metallic elements on the ground.
