Drilling is the operation of making circular holes of desired diameter and depth in different materials by spinning the sharp edges of the tool while pressing it against the required material. . The drilling operation can be similar to turning and milling in some respect. But machining is restricted by hole dimensions, because of that, the greater the hole depth, the more it will be difficult for us to control and remove chips. Short holes are required on many components and high material removal rate demand is increasing priority with quality, reliability and low-cost Drilling is commonly performed on lathe machines, where the drill is held in the holder and work piece is held by the chuck in order to remove excess material. The twist drill is commonly used tool. It is simple machine in the production shop. The work piece is held stationary by holder and the drill spins to produce hole in the required material. Drills are widely available in many varieties, such as performance, characteristics, power and capacity. Drilling machines are the backbone of an industry. Using them to drill holes in different materials on daily basis and, in large and small scale. For accurate and perfect drilling, we require fixed and high-power drills. And in some cases, it’s not possible to drill components using these fixed drills because of the low space between drill bit and drill bed. Here it is necessary to use hand drills but hand drills are not accurate and have many problems while drilling because they’re not precise so here we propose multi directional flexible drilling machine with additional telescopic arms which increases its working area as we telescopic arms can be merged into each other after having the work done by it to occupy less space. It can also make it more portable, and it’s easy to take it from one place to another. Moreover, traditional drilling machines consume large sum of electricity which is the main issue faced by developing countries specially Pakistan. Where daily blackouts are pushing small industries into bankruptcy. Due to such conditions it’s very hard for small industries to thrive and grow relative to markets. While multi directional flexible drilling machine work on DC motor and consume less electricity as compared to other traditional drilling machines and its economical due to which its affordable in term of initial cost and electricity consumption. it can be also fixed on a table, wall or floor and can be used to produce holes vertically, horizontally, upside, down in the work piece. It makes one able to produce holes in complicated parts and surfaces easily and we don’t need to re-clamp the work piece to drill holes along multiple directions. Thus, the mini DC powered multi directional flexible drilling machine is suitable for easy and economical drilling operations.
Our dc powered multi-directional flexible drilling machine just was a prototype. If we implemented this prototype commercially then it will need many changes. It needs hydraulic system because we have used telescopic arms in the prototype for the extension of the length or to cover maximum working area and it also requires many solar panels to power the drilling machine. If we make these changes in this prototype then it will be implemented commercially.

This project was made of following elements. DC motor, Ball bearing, metallic sheet, rechargeable battery, nut and bolt, metallic pipe, angle iron and telescopic arm.
We have used metallic sheet of (12*12) inches and the retracted length of telescopic arm was 12 inches and the extended length of telescopic arm was 24 inches, the angle iron was of (2*2) inches and we have used 12 volt battery with 12 volt DC machine, the bearing have used in this project was of 1.9 inner diameter and 4.6 outer diameter.
