Automatic Petrol Pump
The aim of the project is to automate the petrol filling as well as the payment process on the petrol pumps. The current fuel filling process deployed in Pakistan requires active involvement of workers and customers. The manual work not only requires sufficient manpower but is also less efficient. The aim of the automated petrol pump station is to deliver the required amount of petrol to the customers in their automobiles with the aid of the punch card (i.e., RFID Card) exclusive to the customers and also provide a bill receipt at the time of payment. The whole petrol pump station will be control by the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. Cashier will control the system with the help of Human Machine Interface (HMI) of a petrol pump station, so that the automated petrol pump station is providing complete data about a number of customers, transaction timings and also amount of bill by using HMI, So this project has desire to introduce the customers by the use of the automated technologies.
• Easy access and efficient time management on petrol pumps.
• No manual involvement in filling and billing process.
• Reduction in manpower.
• Prevention of unnecessary delays caused by un-availability of resources on filling area or billing counter.
Implementation of the proposed R&D project is tri-furcated into following phases;
June 2019 - January 2020: Project designing mainly focusing on controller programming and integration to HMI (Human machine interface), designing and optimization of HMI layout.
February 2020 - April 2020: RFID based access control system design. This RFID system will be
able to identify, authenticate and automate the payment procedure for fuel filling tanks.
May 2020 – August 2020: This phase will primarily focus on component level integration of the
Controller based fuel filler and the RFID based access control system. The final deliverable of this
Project will be a functional prototype of the presented idea.
. Customer will be facilitated by automatic fuel filling and payment process.
. Reduction in manpower can make the system cost effective and time efficient.
. Customers can get right quantity of petrol in their automobiles, and it will provide proper satisfaction to customers.
. Customers can use this system themselves and facilitate with the use of automation technology.
. Customers can prevent by mishandling or adulteration problems.
. Customers can get previous record of all their transactions.
. Customers will able to use this facility 24/7.
The automation of fuel dispensing process will be based on commercially available PLC and RFID systems which makes it not only easy to implement but also the maintenance of the system and replacement of individual component in case of any damage is possible.
