Automated Car Parking System
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary•The automotive industry is growing day by day and personal vehicles have become a significant transportation resource now.
•With the rise in private transportation vehicles, getting a free space for parking one’s car, especially in populated areas, has not only become difficult but also results in several issues, such as:
(i)Traffic congestion,
(ii)Wastage of time,
(iii)Environmental pollution, and most importantly
(iv)Unnecessary fuel consumption.
•Companies nowadays are trying to implement parking systems that reduce the reliability of employees, which in turn results in the increase of the company’s profit.
•These parking systems help people waste less time by avoiding the need of having to wait for the parking transaction every time they enter or leave a parking lot and that is believed to be efficient especially in countries that have a huge population.
Project Objectives1.An automated car parking system that regulates the number of cars that can be parked in an area at any given time based on the parking space availability.
2.RFID tag on vehicles is used to identify that a vehicle is registered or not.
3.Automated car parking system not only regulates parking in each area but also keeps the manual control to a bare minimum.
4.Now everything being automated the whole parking system will become faster and more efficient.
Project Implementation Method•Basically, an RFID system consists of an antenna or coil, a transceiver (with decoder), and a transponder (RF tag) electronically programmed with unique information.
• There are many different types of RFID systems in the market.
• These are categorized on the basis of their frequency ranges.
• Some of the most commonly used RFID kits are low-frequency (30-500kHz), mid-frequency (900kHz-1500MHz), and high-frequency (2.4-2.5GHz).
Benefits of the Project•This can be implemented in various places like offices, hospitals, malls or toll plazas, universities, and military areas.
•We will be presenting a model of an automated car parking system that regulates the number of cars that can be parked in an area at any given time based on the parking space availability. The entry and exit of vehicles are facilitated using a totally automated gate.
•We only registered cars and bikes with RFID tags. R
