The Android-based parking gate controller is unique in a sense that it seamlessly operates over the SMS based GSM network, without exposing the SMS interface to the user. Hence, the user can operate our application without depending on the internet. All of the features of our application will be performed through the GUI and user need not to interact through the SMS. Our application will automatically translate the GUI based actions of the user to the SMS messages.
These messages will then be received by the GSM modem connected with the third party, gate opening/closing kit through the Rasberry Pi. GSM modem also equipped with a local memory which will be used for storing the mobile numbers of users and admin. Admin number can add/remove users through Andriod UI, which again translates to the SMS messages.
One of the main objectives is to learn the interfacing of Android with third-party gate opening/closing kit through GSM enabled Rasberry Pi.
To allow the users to control the parking gate from anywhere in the world, without connecting with the internet
To offer a mobile application that behind the scene uses the SMS in such a seamless manner that the user is not able to identify the SMS communication.
We will be implementing an IoT solution of GSM-enabled Rasberry Pi which will be controlling the opening/closing of the parking gate through a third-party kit.
We will also implement an Android application that will interface with the IoT solution through SMS
End users can easily control their parking gates, from anywhere in the world, through their Android devices and this all will happen without requiring the internet connection.
The final deliverable will be having four components.
1: An Android device which is used for controlling the parking gate.
2: A Rasberry Pi based IoT kit for receiving instructions from the Android device and forwarding these to the gate opening/closing kit.
3: A third-party gate opening/closing solution
4: A parking gate which is being controlled from the Android device.
