Project Summary

Wireless interception is vital process for intelligence gathering. It is a difficult process hence require advance and expensive equipment. with the help of  open source Software Defined Radio (HackRF one), the interception and signal analysis of different radio signals available in the area can be done at the cost of computational power only. The projrct focuses on providing cost effective method to Pak-ARMY and itelligence gathering agencies for interception, detecting and demodulating the acquired signal in the area of observation. This project can be utilised in both conventional and unconventional warfare scenario.

Project Objectives

  1. A wireless reception station with capability of intercepting HF, VHF and UHF radio signals as well as sniffing GSM signals. Will be able to capture incoming radio signals of UAVs and will be able to perform ELINT and SIGINT.
  2. Providing Open source software and hardware so that there is no barrier of transfer of technology
  3. Mobile system, which can be employed anywhere without any large administrational support.
  4. The acquired data will be sent back to main server where further processing can be accomplished. (decryption etc)

Project Implementation Method

1. The signals in the area will be acquired through software defined radio and will be further processed from laptop.

2. The software used will be GNU Radio companion.

3. All the Digital Signal Processing shall be accomplished over GNURadio-companion and results will be sent over to a central server.

Benefits of the Project

1) Interception, Analysis and jamming will be available at very low cost in comparison to the equipment Pakistan ARMY is using for the required purpose.

2) Mobile interceptions detachments will be available

3) Open source Technology will be available, reproduction of equipment will not be a problem anymore.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final outcome of the project will be available in form of a small radio interception detachment. Consisting only of one small Software Defined Radio attached to a laptop. this interception detachment will be able to detect, analyse, demodulate, decode and identify the wireless signals in the area of observation. the detachment will have ability to send the acquired data to main server and live information regarding signals intercepted can be shared without any delay
