Project Title

wireless communication in smart grid

Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary

kepping in view the increasing demand and shortage of energy, we are designing a system that is being adopted by developed countries, termed as "Smart Grid System". we are designing a system that compromises of hybrid system( renewable + wapda) and it will sense load continuously. it wil use the cheapest energy source available. if demand increases capacity of renewable energy source, wapda and renewable sources will merge and divide the load among them. this will reduce the utility charges to consumers upto 50% and invokes public towards renewable energy. this system will also be able to senese energy theft along transmission line which will greatly enhance transmission and help country to cover losses due to electrical theft and also use technique of net metering.

Project Objectives
  1. adopting modern techniques of power transmission & distribution.
  2. a battery less system that will reduce installation cost
  3. it will minimze the cost of energy to customers upto 50%
  4. decreases energy theft in transmission line
  5. emphasizes public to adopt renewable energy
  6. help overcoming energy shortage in region
  7. increase in renewable source= eco- friendly
Project Implementation Method

load will be fed with solar panel located at consumer end & with WAPDA (converted to DC). one master controller and a switching circuit will attached between solar panel & wapda and slave controller at consumer end. discussing the following scenarios

morever, this project is also focussed on eleminiting power theft along power transmission. this will be accomplised by using current sensor at supplying and consumer end. reading of both sensors will be compared with certain percentage of margin. if difference of values increases this margin, it will indicate power theft along that transmission line.

Benefits of the Project
  1. adopting modern techniques of power transmission & distribution.
  2. a battery less system that will reduce installation cost
  3. it will minimze the cost of energy to customers upto 50%
  4. decreases energy theft in transmission line
  5. emphasizes public to adopt renewable energy
  6. help overcoming energy shortage in region
  7. increase in renewable source= eco- friendly
Technical Details of Final Deliverable

final deliverables will be a hardware based model comprising of buck converter (for maintaing fix dc voltage), a protection circuit to avoid reverse power flow, a master controller and a slave controller which perform actions of selecting energy sources smartly via switching circuits and power theft detection.
