Intelligent Reflecting surface vs. decode & forward relay in two way communication
Project Area of Specialization Information & Communication TechnologyProject SummaryIntelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is the updated topic in D2D communication. Reflectarrays with real time reconfiguration properties have recently gained interest in mobile communication, under names such as Intelligent reflecting surface and software controlled metasurfaces. In the comparison with Decode-andforward relay and intelligent reflecting surface till now the IRS has only half duplex communication our goal is to achieve the full duplex communication in IRS vs decode-and-forward relay using the time T by dividing into two slots.
Project Objectives1. Implementation of two way intelligent reflecting surface vs. decode and forward relay.
2. Minimizing the total transmit power and maximizing the energy efficiency
3. Enabling the full duplex communication in IRS
Project Implementation MethodBasically, two-way relaying protocol exploits only two time slots. In the first time slots, two source nodes transmit their signals to the relay node simultaneously (T1---->R<-----T2) . Our implementation on MATLAB is the same we will implement the throughput of two way relaying for checking the two way communication reliablity.
Second our main observation is that very high rates and/or large metasurfaces are needed two outperform DE relaying, both oin terms of Minimizing the total transmit power and maximizing the energy efficiency, which also includes the dissipation in the trransceiver hardware.
We will check the parameters of the Intelligent Reflecting surface while implemenating on MATLAB based on Single-antenna source to Single-antenna destination and taking the ab IRS with N discrete elements where N=(20,50,100,150).
Benefits of the ProjectThe main idea is to support the transmission from a source to a destination by adapting the propagation environment; that is, to configure the IRS to beamform its received signal towards the destination.
The Main advantage of the Inteliigent relfecting surface or software controlled metasurface based system is that it can not loss in spectral efficiency induced by half duplex signaling.
The comparison between IRS-supported transmission and repetition-coded DF relaying, with the purpose ofndetermining how large an IRS needs to be outperform conventional relaying.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableAs we implemented the Decode and forward relay in MATLAB we will see the performance of it.
We will implement on MATLAB the IRS-supported transmission after the software work done we will implement that in hardware two check the reliablity of the signal on two way communication.
