Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryA Smartphone has variety of uses and becomes one of the most important devices nowadays. Our project is the prototype implementation of door locking system using smart phone through Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) technology. Programmed using Android, the smart phone can lock and unlock the door using Wi-Fi. Since less awareness concerns on door locking system, the device proposed in this project will help to solve the problem. The user does not have to worry whether the door is locked or not, because users can control it by using their smartphone through an app. The project will be consisting of hardware and software development. Currently, a lot of work is being done in the Home Automation Domain. The brain of our project is raspberry pi which will be connected to Wi-Fi and solenoid Electric lock. User will be using an interfaced mobile app to control the locking and unlocking of door.
Project Objectives- To make a secure and smart electric lock system
- To create an application that would work from a smartphone.
- Live streaming from the door
- Intimation to the user when the door is open for a certain peroid of time
- Bell Notifications
- To make it accessible over internet
The basic methodology which is employed is that raspberry pi will be connected to Wi-Fi and solenoid Electric lock to control locking and unlocking of door. The Raspberry Pi Camera will also be mounted on door front to provide live streaming to user. The project will be designed so that when the person at door rings doorbell then owner will get the notification through android application. Through Live streaming, he will recognize the person at door and can unlock the door using smart android application.
•This project is not only applied on home front doors, but also on gates, resorts with many locked areas and so on
•This project has full potential to be launched as product which can be practically implementable on any desired place specially houses
•It can also be applicable on large buildings and resorts with many doors and each door for a specific set of users
Technical Details of Final DeliverableFinal Deliverable consists of Hardware/Software Integrated Smart door lock which will be used for security of houses and building.
