Wheat Leaf Rust Disease Detection System using Drone Technology
Pakistan is an agriculture based country and majority of population depends on agriculture. Wheat Leaf disease is a critical issue in plant disease detection. Leaf Rust is a kind of disease which affects the young seedlings. Wheat leaf rust is one of the major fungal diseases. This disease comes when cold temperature with rains occurs during the month of February and March. The reason of rust is the hot weather countries like our country Pakistan and also India. The leaf rust has 25% effect on the wheat production. To mitigate this issue, this study has proposed a system which detects Leaf Rust disease using image processing technique. The proposed system will automatically detect the disease and will suggest proper medication. The results show that our proposed system has achieved 97% of accuracy with an efficient way.
a. To develop our own leaf images dataset.
b. To design and formulate an algorithms which will automatically detect and recognize leaf rust disease in wheat crop.
It is very much clear from the introduction that mostly wheat leaf is affected by Leaf Rust. This study proposed a framework which will automatically detect and recognize Leaf Rust in an effective and efficient way. First and for most, the image is acquired by drone and send it to server system. Then the acquired image is pre-processed to remove shadow and noise from the image. Once the image is enhanced, we convert the image in to binary and its texture features are introduced. Then we applied image thresholding for segmentation purposes. Here we subtract the background image form foreground image. At the end, classification is done to classify the image as a normal or diseased one.
Today there is no automated Leaf Rust disease detection system in Pakistan. This system will automate the whole process. it will automatically detect the leaf rust disease in wheat crop without manual interaction.
The final product will be a combinational of software and hardware system that will automate the crop disease process.
