The Project “Web-Based Timetable Designer”, will help the departments to create timetables with ease using the data of teachers and their availability. It will feature a drag and drop GUI in which the user has a view of all the classes’ time slots for the whole week and he/she can drag and drop the name of each available teacher to a particular time slot. If a time the slot is not available or the teacher has already been assigned in another class during that period the time slot will be greyed out meaning that the user won’t be able to drop the teacher’s name there, therefore removing the problem of conflict.
This project aims toward developing a web-based tool to help university departments design timetables for each class easily. Normally timetable designers have to manually keep a record of each teacher’s schedule in-order to assign classes but with this tool, they won’t need to.
The development procedure will include the following steps:
1. Database design
2. ER design
3. Backend Programming
4. Frontend Programming
It is very difficult and time-consuming process to collect manually but with this application it will contain all the data from teachers staff members and therefore it will be easier and efficient for the department to quickly see the availability and manage the timetable according to it.
