Project Area of Specialization Shared EconomyProject Summary“Vehicle Reservation and Tracking System” is a sponsored project and designed according to the requirements of customers. This is an android application which can run on Android Mobile. This system provides customers with vehicles according to their requirements. This application provides ease of transport to the students within the Sialkot city. As the number of college and university going students is rapidly increasing “VRTS” provides safe and secure transport facility. “VRTS” also beneficial for unemployed people as it provides source of income to drivers.
Project ObjectivesSecurity is important for everyone, so the project has the capability to fulfill the requirements of students regarding to traveling and save their time. The main goals of the project are as following:
- To provide hassle free automobiles according to need
- To provide user friendly system
- System satisfies the requirement of user
- To save time
- To provide secure environment
- Fast access of transport
- To track reserved vehicle
This system is a good initiative to change traditional pick and drop services. It will provide convenience to students. On the other way it is source of earning for unemployed drivers. This system is available for only female students. This system will only for Sialkot Universities and colleges. To use this system student and driver must have an android phone and app must be installed on their phone. For tracking purpose, students as well as driver have to on their GPS at the time of pick and drop to track their booked vehicle. Students can track their vehicle in only specific time period (i.e. during reserved ride time period). Students must have to pay their fares in due date
The following are the basic modules of the VRTS.
- User profile (Students, drivers and parents have to register their account before using app)
- On-demand booking (Students can book vehicle according to demand)
- Billing (Monthly basis)
- Feedback (Students can give feedback about driver and driver can also give feedback about his customer )
- Automated e-receipts (Billing receipts will generated online)
- Scheduled bookings (Students can avail conveyance according to their schedule. They can choose suitable time slot)
- Edit Profile(User can edit their profile like change contact info etc.)
- SMS alert (On pick and drop system will provide SMS alert for better security. it will also notify important messages etc. on SMS as well as linked account )
- Vehicle tracking System GPS(Students and their parents can track booked vehicle using GPS system)
- Flexible payment options(Billing can be done on cash or credit)
- Ride history (student as well as driver can see ride history)

Technical Details of Final DeliverableHardware:
The following are the hardware requirements of the project.
- 1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution.
- 2 GB of available disk space minimum, 4 GB Recommended (500 MB for IDE + 1.5 GB for Android SDK and emulator system image)
- 3 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB RAM recommended; plus 1 GB for the Android Emulator.
- Android phone minimum API level 24
