Use of waste marble powder and sugarcane bagasse ash in the production of bricks
Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject Summarythe production of waste marble powder adversely effects the environment causing environmental problems because it constitutes number of very fine powder.Sugarcane bagasse ash is also produced in large quantity,it is of very light weight and can be easily blown by air causing air pollution and respiratory problems.Its composed of clue of heavy metals which pollute air, soil and ground water.the detrimental effects of these materials on environment can be reduced by their use in construction industry. In today's world the main focus of researchers is to reuse the waste materials in efficient way so as to save economy and environment. Construction industry has the potential of using these waste materials. The main aim of this research is to save economy and enironment by manufacturing bricks using waste marble powder and bagasse ash.
Project ObjectivesThe main objectives of this research are;
1.To recycle the waste produced from marble industry and sugar industry in the preparation of bricks.
2.To decrease enviromental pollution by making ecological bricks to protect environmental quality.
3.To make economical and lightweight bricks.
4.To compare the result of traditional bricks with these waste composite bricks.
Project Implementation MethodThe implementation of this project will be carried in the following steps.
1.The local available soil will be extracted , then it will be made free from any impurities and prepared for processing.
2.Waste marble powder and sugarcane bagasse ash will be collected from industries.
3.The soil, waste marble powder and sugarcane bagasse ash will be mixed in different proportions.
4.The prepared mixed will be then molded, several sample will be casted for each mix.
5.The samples will be then dried and will be placed in sun for several days.
6.The bricks will be then transported to kiln for heating purpose
Benefits of the Project1.This research will utilize waste materials in the formation of bricks and will reduce adverse impacts on the environment.
2.This research will help to find out the maximum percentage of waste marble powder and sugarcane bagasse ashe in bricks formation.
3.This research will provide preliminary data for further researches regarding use of wastes material in the production of bricks.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe study aims to use waste materials in construction industry. The final report would of following;
Compressive strength test
Water absorption test
Soundness test
Hardness test
Impact test
Flexure test
Final thesis report on methadology adopted for research project(including photographs) along with analyzed result.
