Denim washing is the most critical finishing stage performed on garment which is carried out by utilizing a series of treatments for obtaining the desirable results. During this span of wash cycle, garments are highly influenced thus fibre receives a great decline which ultimately gets damage due to heavy mechanical agitation and the detrimental effects of chemicals that are used in wash recipes. Today, in the apparel industries the deviation in fits and shrinkages are considered as one of the major issues which can never be entertained by consumers resulting in abrogation of orders hence the company will experience a huge loss.
The prime focus of this project is to explore the reasons for this undesirable flaw that will eventually lead towards variation in measurements of the garment. Among several classes of washes we have selected acid and bleach washing methods as only limited work has been doneon these methods.
Before the beginning of experimental work, it is important to identify the parameters in order to continue the study efficiently. So far, in this study a number of blankets and dummies are made from different fabric constructions and are washed with selective wash recipes i.e. acid and bleach wash. Thus, the effect of each parameter is evaluated on washed and unwashed fabric for an appropriate analysis. This discussion will be further conducted in the future work at different time, temperature, concentrations and also by altering the wash recipes. At this stage some of the tests have been performed and their results are investigated accordingly.
The aim of this project is to reduce deviation in fits and shrinkages of stretched denim
jeans by analyzing the effects of acid and bleach washing at different time, temperature
and concentrations in wash recipes.
In order to accomplish the above stated aims, the objectives which have to be fulfilled
are:
Fabrics of different construction have been selected which are utilized to make blankets and jeans (basic 5 pocket) by using standard procedures. Number of different experiments would be performed using acid and bleach washing on stretch denim (i.e. blanket and dummy) to analyzed its effect on different parameters namely, temperature, time and concentrations.
Today, in the apparel industries the deviation in fits and shrinkages are considered as one of the major issues which can never be entertained by consumers resulting in abrogation of orders hence the company will experience a huge loss. Therefore, the problems of deviation in fits and shrinkages is taken seriously by garment manufacturing industry in order to satisfy the buyer’s demand.
This project will eventually assist garment industries to meet the customer expectations by minimizing rejection rate arising due to acid and bleach washing techniques.
