Project Summary

Concealed Weapon detection is one of the basic requirements for passenger safety and security to avoid any tragedy. From the last few decades, this domain has been widely focused by academia and researchers. The central goal is to detect hidden weapons concealed underneath clothes, automatically. In this research, a novice approach is proposed for concealed weapon detection with the help of thinning morphology technique considering laser rays.

Project Objectives

The objectives of the current research are to: (i) develop and make public a dataset of a significant number of pre- processed thermal images showing items under people’s dress, (ii) to apply a novice approach for the image classification using Thinning (morphology) considering laser rays. Apart from this, we will perform a comparative analysis of techniques with proposed and traditional early used techniques.

Project Implementation Method

It comprises of following steps: the very first step is system initialization (thermal input image with each pixel represent entering an intensity value of the object), then preprocessing (remove/change e pixels of high intensity of other than blue pixels to black) is performed, If the whole image is black then no gun is detected, if its not then, binary image conversion, localize image to binary, extract/crop the localize regions. Apply thinning to these regions, angle finding of thinned objects, if angle is not equal to 180 degree tha there is a gun otherwise, it is not a gun. Additionally, laser rays will be used to detect the gun undercovered by the intruder.
