Temperature Reduction of photovoltaic panels by water cooling system
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryOur Project is related with Solar PV panel system’s efficiency As Plates of PV panel systems are openly placed at face of Sun. One of the main obstacles that face the operation of Photo Voltaic is overheating due to excessive solar radiation and high ambient temperatures. When the solar cell temperature increases, the maximum power output from the solar cells decreases Therefore, due to the temperature rise, not all the solar energy absorbed by photo voltaic cells is converted into electrical energy, Our project will have scope of designing cooling model which is used for flowing the water for cooling purpose of panels and cool down the PV panels to its normal operating temperature.Further this hot water is used for different domestic purpose uses.
Project ObjectivesTo design and implement Mechanism (Circuit ) for increasing efficiency of Solar PV panel system by using water as coolant
To Make Hot Water Usable For Domestic Purpose
To Compare and Analyze the different Parameters such as efficiency , Outpower , Current , Voltage and temperature with cooling system and without cooling system
Project Implementation MethodThe circuit which we may develop for cooling the solar photovoltaic panel with water increases the solar cells output power by almost 50%. In our project the cooling water is circulated around the PV panels for cooling the solar cells , when water will be flowing around panels , it will absorb heat from panels and become hot itself so this hot water can also be utilized for different applications such as Heating , Boling and cooking purpose. .
Our project will be consisting of circuit which may be used for purpose of cooling, and we develop this project so that it become less expensive technique that is used to improve PV panel performance.
The water pump sucks the water from the middle of the water tank via a suction pipe to avoid sucking any dust. The suction pipe consists of a non-return valve and a strainer to avoid sucking of large particles that could damage the water pump. The sucked water passes through the water filter, and then, it is sprayed over the PV modules for cooling or flow throgh pipes. Water is sprayed using water nozzles, or flown by pipes which are installed at the upper side of the modules Afterward, the water used for cooling is collected at the lower part of the PV modules via a drain pipe, and then, it returns back to the water tank such that the water cycle is closed so in this way our project works.
Benefits of the ProjectAs every project has its own benifits , our project has also numerious benifits.
Firstly Our Project will used as cooling system of PV Panels that is very important for them. Cooling is necessary in PV applications for two main reasons: Increase the lifetime of the PV cells and reduce PV module area by increasing output power of the module that’s why we are developing such circuit for PV panel systems.
Secondly this project will increase maximum power output in order to operate the different loads at maximum efficiency .
Thirdly The appearing voltage will also be increased.
This project is also having benifit of water which makes PV panels cool , This water is furher used for heating purpose and other domestic use. These PV panels will be used for generating power as well as for other demestic purpose such as heating , cooking , boiling and many others after applying this model .
Technical Details of Final DeliverableBasicaly our project is research based under the super vision of Professor Dr Abdul Qadir on efficiency of PV Panels and make this technology more usable and less expenisve.
So Final Deliverable of our project is efficient PV system which has as possible maximum power output and more appearing voltage for the efficient usage of DC Loads.
