Project Summary

Keeping small businesses, financial inclusion of women’s challenge and existing home kitchens in mind the idea is to launch an android application which will serve as a platform for home kitchens. This app will serve the home kitchenites in a way that it will get schedule and prices of the kitchens whereas it will serve the users in a way that it will provide a platform where users will be able to get home cooked food. For this purpose, user and home kitchenites need to have a smartphone.

Ta’aam is an android application that is being developed to provide a platform to home kitchens and will play a role as a third-party app but will provide services at the same time. This app will cater home kitchenites and people who want to eat home cooked food at one place where home kitchenites will give their menu and prices. The users of the app will be able to locate home kitchens within the radius of 5 km and order food to any of the located home kitchen. Initially user will have to pick up food by him/her self. The user of the app will be able to add his/her schedule to the app and Ta’aam administration will make sure that the user gets food as ordered/scheduled.

Having general public as users and home kitchenites itself increases chances of the success. The objective is to promote small businesses, include women’s support towards their family in financial matters and help in providing platform to the existing home kitchens. This solution is currently not being used in Pakistan and inclusion of this app for Pakistani’s will support to take initiative and will support existing home kitchens. App administration will provide a packaging material to all the home kitchens in which the food will be packed. Currently only android phones will be used as a hardware whereas app will be developed using android studio and visual studio.

Project Objectives

1- A quality platform for all the home kitchenites, hostelites, office workers and labours in order to implement software engineering social practices.

2- A high quality end product with easy, usable and user centered UI.

No food tastes like home cooked food and this is the answer of every hostelite, employee and labour. People living in hostels, working in offices and labours have to eat unhygienic food from hotels which cause health and stomach issues. People away from home miss the home cooked food and cannot find any such platform where they can find home cooked food even though some people are running home kitchens. Another problem we face is that a large number of energetic womens want to contribute towards their home by earning something to strengthen the financial condition of their house but due to restriction they cannot work outside their homes. This solution is feasible and can support families running through financial crisis. The potential customer of this app can be the general public especially women’s and the potential market size is huge as most of the women’s want to contribute towards the betterment of livelihood of their family and through this app, they’ll get a platform to start and promote their home kitchen. Not only existing home kitchens will use this app but also people will start working on this idea. This app will play a part in promoting small businesses.

Project Implementation Method

This product cannot be implemented in the form of deliverables as the whole app itself is a deliverable. The app will be launched in complete form on Play Store once it is completed. 

Benefits of the Project

This app will serve in three ways:

1. This app will promote small businesses.

The app will play vital role in promoting small businesses as people would be able to start this without any huge investment and no loss factor is involved.

2. This app will meet financial inclusion of women’s challenge.

Many women’s faces issue in going outside the house for job due to the restrictions of the family but there are women’s who can actually work by staying at home as they have free time at home and they can use time to do something meaningful and make a difference by contributing towards the financial condition of their family.

3. This app will provide platform to all the existing home kitchens and will initiate new home kitchens.

There are many people who are running home kitchens but they cannot find any proper platform which can appreciate their idea or from where they can get customers and many people close their home kitchen because they cannot find customers. Once provided the platform, this can inspire many and it is expected that people will like the initiative and will start work that is easy to handle.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

This app will be developed using iterative model keeping the requirements and negotiations in mind. Different modules will be developed keeping the dependencies and negotiations in mind and later on all the modules will be integrated together.
