Swarm Intelligence for Link Prediction

The issue of link prediction has attracted considerable recent attention from a variety of fields, such as sociology, anthropology, information science, and computer science. By exploiting the swarm intelligence, we can optimize and enhance the link prediction system, which can define a reaction between more accurately and swiftly. Before it was done through big data analysis but we are focusing on achieving it through the means of Swarm Intelligence approach by using SI Algorithms.

Most physical, biological and knowledge structures in the real world, from the nervous system to the environment, from road traffic to the Web, from the ant-colony framework to human social relations, may obviously be represented as networks, where vertices represent entities and linkages denote connections or interactions between vertices.

As a topology approximation of complex systems, due to time and space constraints or experimental circumstances, it is probable that there will be some mistakes or redundant connections in the design of a complex network and, at the same time, there will also be some undetected possible ties. In fact, owing to the rapid nature of complex network links over time, we need to forecast the predictions and on the basis of existing links and their meta data.

Link prediction is an important task in the area of link mining. Connection prediction is to determine whether there will be a connection between the two nodes based on attribute details and the current correlation knowledge found. Connect analysis can not only be used in the field of social networking, but can also be used in other areas.

Swarm Intelligence (SI) is the collective action of autonomous, self-organized, natural or artificial systems. The term is used in artificial intelligence research. The concept was coined in 1989 by Gerardo Beni and Jing Wang in the sense of cellular robotic systems.

Now the question arises that Why Swarm intelligence? It can be explained through the following examples of swarm intelligence in natural systems include ant colonies, bird flocking, hawk hunting, animal herding, bacterial growth, fish breeding and microbial intelligence.

Swarming helps groups of animals to perform tasks that they cannot do on their own, such as protecting themselves from a much larger predator’s

Project Objectives

The main objective of this project is to accurately define links between different nodes (whether they are related or not) through the means of swarm intelligence and its algorithms. This project will the enhanced and optimized version of the other link prediction models .

Project Implementation Method

We will be working in Linux environment to tackle with the server and parallel processing of the link prediction will also be our concern. To do parallel processing we will work with the Apache Spark framework in Scala and for the link prediction we will be working with the SI Algorithms.

Benefits of the Project

Link Prediction has recently attracted the attention of many researchers because of its benefits and uses. It has got countless real life implementations, it can be applied to Most physical, biological and knowledge structures in the real world, from the nervous system to the environment, from road traffic to the Web, from the ant-colony framework to human social relations, may obviously be represented as networks, where vertices represent entities and linkages denote connections or interactions between vertices. In short that it can be applied to online social media platforms , in weighted networks ,  generating logical path of the artificial bees and ants  etc.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Server Interaction through Ubuntu and might be possible that some of the work be done through API’s coded on Scala. Moreover, to reduce communication cost i.e. network traffic, is challenging.
