The solar smart inverter has become buzzword in the electronics industry which is blending of multilevel inverter solar tracking and solar charging.The proposed idea of multilevel topology will be used for minimum harmonic distortion, reduced EMI generation and reliable power generating system.

Project Summary

The solar smart inverter has become buzzword in the electronics industry which is blending of multilevel inverter solar tracking and solar charging.The proposed idea of multilevel topology will be used for minimum harmonic distortion, reduced EMI generation and reliable power generating system.

Project Objectives

The proposed idea of solar smart inverter incorporating with space vector pulse width modulation and load detection will increase the efficiency and reliability of the system.We are also assimilating maximum power point tracking for higher efficiency.The performance of multilevel inverter depends upon its modulation strategies.Thus the space vector pulse width modulation is the best and most reliable modulation because it enables efficient use of DC voltaegs and smartly works with vector control thus gives less total harmonic distortion , better power factor and less switching losses .

Project Implementation Method

The work flow begins with the design of solar tracker followed battery charging and obtain AC from multilevel inverter.Furthermore DC power is extracted separately from  batteries.In order to trap maximm energy solar tracking is implemented using stepper motor and we opt relay switching for charging for batteries by elliminatig common ground problem.

The five H-bridge circuits to get eleven levels of AC voltage by space vector pulse width modulation switching scheme powered by five separate DC source together to constitute multilevel.By incorporating space vector pulse width modulation control within inverters we can control the gain of inverter more effectively.

Benefits of the Project

The problem of greenhouse effect is due to the extensive use of the fossil fuels.Cost of fossil fuel energy is rising and increase in air polluion paves a way to the study of solar energy.Many appliances have now been using solar energy and they required the reliable system so the proposed idea will provide that benefit also higher the efficiency.The load detection technique is implemented in this project by using current transformer which is the complimentary achivement in power electronics wing.Solar smart inverter has great significant to energy savings and utility system integration.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Solar smart inverter system is proposed for small application.Solar cell movement system developed will move the panel 180 degrees east to west and returned to initial position after sunset.Also solar charging is implemented by eliminating common ground problem.Te main objective of this project is to produce sinusoidal waveform with minimum distortion from separate DC source by using multilevel inverter is validated.The load detection with the help of current transformer in order to detect the load variations and feedback to microcontroller. Microcontroller is programmed in such a manner that if unendurable load variation occurs the system will automatically shutdown. Furthermore efficieincy of switching can b improved by space vector pulse width modulation.
