Project Summary

Agricultural sector plays vital role in the economy of any country. In the aspects of Pakistan agriculture is the backbone. With the passage of time agriculture sector also groom and take new revolution. Solar seed sowing machine is the impact of this revolution. Solar seed sowing machine are used to sowing the seed of any crop by using the solar panel as energy source. We are also using DC battery that is charged with solar panel from recovering in overcast condition.

We are making this machine to sowing the seed at accurate distance that are different for different crops to achieve high productivity. We will be able to control this machine by android app. This machine will decrease the manpower because there will be no need of any labour for sowing. This will also decrease the environmental pollution because in past we were used tractors and planter.

Project Objectives

Project Implementation Method

First the solar panel will convert the solar energy into electrical energy and store this energy into battery. There are six dc motors that have different working. Four of them used for running the machine (two will use for forward and two for reverse). One will use for digging of soil and one of them will use for sowing the seeds. For controlling this machine, we are using an android app. The former will have full control on this machine by using app in his mobile. A bucket on the machine is also available that contains the seeds. Arduino is the basic controller of this machine where the whole programming about throughout working for example that how much distance is required for sowing of different crops.

Solar panel:

Now a day’s solar panel are the main source of electricity. A solar panel consists of many photovoltaic cells that works by allowing photons, or particles of light to knock electrons free from atoms and due to movement of these electrons’ electricity produced.

DC Battery:

Normally the chemicals present inside dc battery. DC battery convert the chemical energy into electrical energy by a chemical reaction. It uses in almost every circuit to giving the power to different components. A battery produces direct current that flow only in one direction.

DC Motors:

A DC motor is an electrical motor that converts the electrical energy into mechanical. The working of DC motor is based on the principle that when a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences a mechanical force. Almost all types of DC motors have some internal mechanism, either electromechanical or electronic, to periodically change the direction of current.  

Arduino:

Arduino is an open source microcontroller which can be easily programmed, erased and reprogrammed at any instant of time. It is also capable of acting as the minicomputer just like other microcontroller by taking inputs and controlling the outputs for the variety of electronic devices. We can use Arduino to control the main function of machine.

Android Application:

An Android app is a software application running on the Android platform. Because the Android platform is built for mobile devices, a typical Android app is designed for a smartphone or a tablet PC running on the Android OS (Operating system).

Benefits of the Project

This project will cover all aspects regarding seed sowing. Using this project there will be reduction in labour work because a single person can control the machine easily, it will also prove cost effective. As we know much time and human effort has been taken in seed sowing process, but this machine will complete the whole process in very short time. This machine will also reduce the environmental pollution because the earlier process of seed sowing with tractor planters that release the carbon dioxide (CO2) which causes environmental pollution but, in this machine, we are using solar panel that are environment friendly.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Initially the farmer must power on the machine with the help of on/off button. This will provide power from battery to the motors for running according to the program. In android app there are six option available that are Start, Stop, Forward, Reverse, Left and Right. The farmer can control the whole machine by using these options. As we have used six motors four of them for running machine, one use for digging the soil and the other one is use for sowing the seeds. As the accurate distance for any specific crops already inserted in programming so the motors will automatically be sowing the seeds accordingly.
