Project Title

Solar panel implementation and energy audit for telecommunication department

Project Area of Specialization Wearables and ImplantableProject Summary

PROJECT GOALS:

The goal of this project is to transform Telecommunication department into a Green building.

problem statment :

How to overcome load shedding and costly electricity?

Currently Pakistan is going through the worst energy crises of its history. Electricity shortfall has increased about 5000MW on daily basis; load shedding has increased from 8-14 hours daily which cause the industrial growth declining and overly the whole economic growth has suffered. Due to the lack of the planning of new projects, insufficient use of new resources, poor management and distribution of energy are the problems of unstable in demand and supply of energy and also impact the financial positions of the industries. Their impact also hits the noncommercial sectors like Universities, hospitals as well as the living standard of people. Failures of forecast and future planning regarding energy is a poor management related issue. There are much more political issues like weak regulation, coordination between federal and provincial governments regarding power of energy supply. The non-payment of billing of energy causes the higher costs of energy.

The problem of massive load shedding in Pakistan was properly introduced in 2004-2005. Because in these days the overall GDP growth was very high near about 9% per year. In these years the business progress was very high well and banks industry grows at a vigorous sped. Banks introduces new schemes in which people were provided home appliances on lease.

METHODOLOGY:

We will use following tools and software for optimization and installation.

1. Use “Pvsyst” software to simulate the weather condition of Jamshoro district and optimize the solar panel installation.

2. Subsequently energy audit of Project Lab, Office room # 117 and whole department shall be performed.

3. Next solar panels will be installed at the roof top of Telecommunication department along with inverter.

4. This shall be followed by testing.

Project Objectives

1. To optimize the solar panel installation at telecommunication department of Mehran university of engineering and technology Using “PVsyst” software.

2.To perform the energy audit & to prepare implementation plans to convert telecommunication department onto solar panels

3. To power Project Lab or Telecom Office of Room # 117 using solar panels.

Project Implementation Method

*We will use following tools and software for optimization and installation.

*1. solar panels

*2. Charge controller

*3. Battery

*4. Inverter

*5. Pvsyst software

step1:

•Solar panels

•(solar energy to DC electrical energy)

step 2:

•Charge controller

step 3:

•Solar battery (DC electrical energy to chemical energy)

step 4:

•Inverter (DC electrical energy to AC electrical energy)

step 5:

•Lab electrical appliance like fane or bulb.

Methods:

•1.Firstly we will do simulation of project lab on “PVsyst” software.

•2.Then we will do energy audit of department .

•3.We will convert project lab of telecommunication department on solar panel .

Benefits of the Project

Benefits:

By converting our project lab onto solar panel  , we would save  4000 --- 5000 rupee’s from the monthly bill of telecommunication department .

Which will result in saving of million rupees approximately in next 15 to 20 years .

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

At the end of this project we will power tube lights/LED bulbs and fan of project lab or Office room # 117 using solar panels.
