In this project we are providing renewable energy through solar panel and with the help of sun light. We are using auto controlled solar tracker and we will make auto controlled solar tracker circuit using auto controlled linear actuator with a solar panel, charge controller, battery, inverter and on the output side there will be a star-delta panel which will use according to the load on the output side. The design of our tracker is different than traditional solar tracking device which is very costly in comparison with our way which is purely based on timer circuit, which will keep our panel chasing the sun to get maximum radiation. Hence, In this Distributed Generation project firstly we will work on power generation, secondly will work on power distribution and from side by side we will work on power protection, Therefore, in this way we will work and cover the three domains of power through this project.
Project ObjectivesIt willprovide a smart stand-alone distributed energy which is based on renewable energy source like solar energy & through it we can resolve the problems of electric power failure through providing a electricity from distributed energy. This project will cover the three domains of electric power like power generation, power distribution & power protection. So, in this way we will work on three domains of electric power.
Project Implementation MethodThe project is smart stand-alone distributed generation which is based on renewable energy source like solar energy. In this project we are providing renewable energy through solar panel and with the help of sun light. In this project we are using auto controlled solar tracker and we will make auto controlled solar tracker circuit using auto controlled linear actuator with a solar panel, charge controller, battery, inverter and on the output side we will make a star-delta panel which will use according to the load on the output side. Therefore, in this Smart Stand-alone Distributed Generation project firstly we will work on power generation, secondly we will work on power distribution and from side by side we will work on power protection, therefore, in this way we will work and cover the three domain of power through this project. We have also used a unique method to automate our control circuit unlike others we have used a simpler circuit based on timing which is going to track the sun automatically and will come back to it’s original position in the evening.
Benefits of the ProjectSmart stand-alone distributed energy is based on renewable energy source like solar, which is important because without renewable energy source we can not survive in the future and solve the problems regarding load shedding or electric power failures etc. Smart distributed generation is an excellent choice for resolving the energy crisis. The aim is to provide distributed energy based on renewable energy source which could resolve the problems of electric power failure by providing the electricity from smart distributed generation. This project covers the three domains of electric power, power generation, power distribution & power protection. Due to the cheaper cost of the tracking circuit, it is more affordable for people.
The output to achieve is to produce distributed generation based on renewable energy i.e. solar panel & single axis solar tracker system with solar panel we will produce more energy through our whole project. It can be used as a training system at university level in order to teach the students the characteristics of PV panel and can also be used as an instructing instrument for the use of star-delta panel ,Furthermore at Distribution level distributed generation is used for the improvement of the power at the receiving and could reduce the transmission losses and with the help of tracking system more efficiency can be achieved (upto +40%).
Technical Details of Final Deliverablea) Solar Panel:
§ Solar panel is used to generate electricity.
b) Auto Controlled Solar Tracker using Linear Actuator:
§ Auto controlled solar tracker circuit using linear actuator is used to rotate the solar panel according to the direction of the sun through sun light and with the help of linear actuator. It consists of the following things:
§ Linear Actuator: It is used to detect the position of the sun through sun light.
- Tracking Circuit: Itconsists of two limit switches and a timer which is going to help us entail the sun.
§ Iron Frame: It is used to hold the whole panel with Auto Controlled Solar Tracker using Linear Actuator.
c) Battery Charge Controller:
§ It is used to resist overcharging and can protect the battery from overvoltage condition which is bad for the lifespan and performance.
d) Battery:
§ It is used to store charges from solar panel & provide backup.
e) Inverter:
§ Inverter is a power electronic device which is used for the conversion of DC to AC.
f) Star Delta Panel:
§ It is used according to the requirement of the load. It consists of the following things:
§ Circuit Breakers: It is used to protect the panel & load.
§ Contactors: A contactor is a switch used for switching an electrical power circuit.
§ EOCR: It stand for electronic over current relay. It is used to save the load from over current.
§ Timer: An electric timer is simply an electronic control that regulates an electric circuit.
§ Push Buttons: It is used to turn on & off the circuit manually.
§ Iron Frame: It is used to hold the whole circuit equipment.
g) AC Load:
§ It consists of incandescent bulbs, fan, motor etc.
g) Variable Frequency Drive (VFD):
§ In this project being used as an auxiliary device to convert the single phase output of inverter to 3 phase.
