Employees of many organization, school, and office faces many issues according to mark their attendance and many organization follow the old concept of marking attendance which is on paper attendance. If student/employee is absent on some day their friends have a change to mark their attendance which create difficulties in school/office and they are not able to track the proper attendance. Also if employee/student is absent so the old concept is not notify them (on the day when they present) that they are absent on that day.

In this digital age face recognition and Nano technology play a major role to recognize the actual person and solve many problems which have loop holes. So we trying to replace the old school concept of marking attendance with AI based face recognition attendance. We made a mirror which recognize faces by using a camera, student and employees just need to appear in front of mirror and mirror will mark their attendance.

Project Objectives

Attendance marking is very hectic but import for any organization, school and office. Also resolving attendance problem is a major issue in any organization and the cause of issues is following old concept of marking attendance. So we trying to resolve attendance problems smartly by using AI-face recognition. We trying to resolve all problems which are appear on the basis of attendance. Also trying to replace the concepts of marking attendance which are working manually. We introduce a concept of smart attendance system, In this system user just need to appear in front of mirror and our system mark the attendance of user (Obviously the users need to give their dataset to the system only 1 time). The primary goal of this project is to make a system which works smartly in order to mark the attendance. Also users are able to mark their attendance without a single touch to any communication device.

Project Implementation Method

If we are talking about the real world so the applications based on image processing is very important for checking purpose. Actually, we can implement it in any organization because every organization’s need is to store their employee’s attendance as well, we know that this kind of application have huge importance in human-machine interaction. So, we decided to build a project which we called smart mirror-based attendance system. General statement of the face recognition problem (in computer vision) can be formulated as follows:

Given still or video images of a scene, identify or verify one or more persons in the scene using a stored database of faces. Facial recognition generally involves two stages:

Face Detection:

Where a photo is searched to find a face, then the image is processed to crop and extract the person’s face for easier recognition.

Face Recognition:

Where that detected and processed face is compared to a database of known faces, to decide who that person is. Face detection can be performed fairly easily and reliably with Intel’s open source framework called OpenCV. This framework has an inbuilt Face Detector that works in roughly 90-95% of clear photos of a person looking forward at the camera. However, detecting a person’s face when that person is viewed from an angle is usually harder, sometimes requiring 3D Head Pose Estimation. Also, lack of proper brightness of an image can greatly increase the difficulty of detecting a face, or increased contrast in shadows on the face, or maybe the picture is blurry, or the person is wearing glasses, etc.

Benefits of the Project

The main reason of significance of this project is the unique and smart concept of marking attendance in which user does not manually communicate with any data communicating device. Once the user will set his/her dataset in the system then he/she does not require a single touch to mark their attendance. Also the chances of marking other person attendance is now zero percent. More than that this is not only a smart attendance system but this is a smart mirror based attendance system which means in offices, schools this device is installed on entrance for users to check their getup so when user appear in front of mirror this mirror recognize the user and mark their attendance which make it unique and significant. We made this project for general purpose which means not educational institution oriented or not office oriented but for all organizations. We easily add more features in it or add features for specific organization like if employee was absent yesterday (on the day he was present) system will inform him that his/her salary is detected dash percent. Also add those features which are useful for all user Like attendance sheet send on admin email, mark late attendance, notify user that he/she was absent since dash days.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Our system provides very simple and easy also environment friendly way to its users in which attendance day to day sheet is auto generated and also cover all loop holes which are occur in old attendance systems. Once the user will set his/her dataset in the system then he/she does not require a single touch to mark their attendance. System will generate new sheet on daily basis and mark only those user attendance who are appear in front of mirror and erasing the concept of marking other person attendance. Also email day to day attendance sheet on admin email which is editable.
