Smart load management system using solar energy
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryAs world is facing energy shortage problems and most on the energy is being generated by fossil fuels which is expensive too and we don’t have any monitoring system which can detect any theft of electricity between generation end and consumer end and along with it net metering is also not much common.. Our prototype will be consisting of a microgrid and microgrid is a group of interconnected loads and distributed energy resources within clearly defined electrical boundaries that acts as a single controllable entity with respect to the grid. A microgrid can connect and disconnect from the grid to enable it to operate in grid-connected mode and island mode.
this system will automatically detect the theft in electricity and through net metering consumer will be able to sell electricity back to supplier and in this way energy shortage problems can be overcommed. Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for the electricity they add to the grid. When one's solar power system generates more electricity than he uses over the course of a month, his utility bill will receive a credit based on the net number of kilowatt-hours you gave back to the grid
So it will be good to use such kind of system in areas where electricity theft is high, areas facing global warming, places where prices of electricity are high, where electricity is limited, and areas in which uninterrupted supply is needed.
Power Theft detection.
Smart Load Management.
Power Generation Optimization using smart grid.
Net metering.
Cost Effectiveness.
To overcome power shortage.
We will start implementation starting with simulations and pcb layouts of rectifier , inverter , buckboost converter and relay networks and then degisning their respective pcbs. In next phase we will work on our prototype connecting devices etc and then finally coding and developing an application.
Benefits of the ProjectIt can be used in areas where electricity supply is limited and expensive.
Areas facing threats of global warming can adopt such systems to minimize the negative effect on environment.
Work places can be provided with cheap electricity in working hours.
Hospitals and security control systems can be provided with un-interrupted supply through smart load management.
Areas with high theft rate can utilize this facility.
In final prototype all the measurements will be displayed on mobile app (current and voltages on diffetent points).
The solar panels will provide stable voltage through buckboost converters and along with operating loads it will be stored in battery.
Then wapda electricity amd solar are connected to relay metworks and rectifier and inverter and they run ac amd dc laod.
When there is no load or less load on solar panel then process of net metering will start.
This will also detect theft on wapda side i.e. electricity from poles comming to our houses.
