The System that we are developing comprises of a web and android application along with the IOT gadgets.The User will be able to control his home appliances using andoid application.Android application will interact with home appliances through Raspberry pi.User will be able to switch on/off lights ,draw curtains, fan on/off,door lock/unlock, washing machine,setting its speed of washing, setting room temperature of Air condition .Web Application will be provided to the service providers which will be interacting with utility meters through IOT gadget which is also raspberry pi.Raspberry pi will be connected to electricity and sui gas meters and it will send the reading of the meter through GSM module over the network to our web application and we will perform further operations on that reading accordingly.Customer,enployee and technicians will be managed through web application like add, update,delete of all the stakeholders. Whenever a customer comes to our office for new meter registration, a techinician will be assigned automatically to fulfil the requirements.The data coming from the ,meters over the network which is the reading of units previous and current month, will be shown on the map according to their latitude and longitude and it will decide which meter is working properly and which meter is not working properly on the basis of the indicator.
The primary goal of our system is to provide all the services mentioned above on a single platform so that the stakeholders can save their time rather than performing those operations manually.
Keeping in mind, the present day lifestyle and fast pace of the life, everyone is busy and hardly find any time for family or even himself. In this lifestyle, there are so many activities which seems to be wastage of time or even because of the busy schedule many times we just forget some very important useful activities like handling different gadgets, switching on off the home lights, washing using washing machine, setting room temperature and many times many manual things..Our system will help the users fulfill their demands without wasting anytime.
first of alll programming of raspberry pi to connect with home appliances and then programming of andoid application using android studio and java to connect with raspberry pi. Programming of web application using php and a platform called Laravel. Mysql database is used to store the data of both the applications. First of all, we will install apache server in Raspberry Pi and write the code in php for operating the GPIO pins of the raspberry pi to control the relay shield for controlling the home appliances. To control the raspberry pi function, we run that function from android application by accessing it from the URL of the server installed on the raspberry pi, The android application is coded in pure java, in which a user will be registered and logged into his/her account. After logging in, user can use all the features of the application. User can control home appliances, see the peak hours of the day at which the unit rate will be charged higher than regular rate. Moreover, user can see his/her bill online, can check estimated bill from current units, can compain if he/she faces any problem regarding electricity meter. User can see the safety manual to know what to do in some accidental conditions, user can call or message to helpline for getting the assistance of the technician. On the other hand in web application, administrator logs into his account. Admin can set peak hours for the respective season, can check the state of meter whether it's properly working or not. Admin assigns a team for solving complain of any customer, after that team goes to the location of the customer facing problem and solves the complain. Admin adds employees and technichians working under the organisation. Admin recieves messages and attends the calls of the helpline.
The primary benefit of our project is that it will save alot of crucial time of the users. As discussed earlier, it is very difficult for the service provider i.e (wapda or sui gas) to take meter readings manually and pay visit to each house which is time consuming. Moreover, due to busy schedule and fast pace of life, some people find it difficult to handle different IOT gadgets like setting room temperature, switching on/off the lights, drawing curtains etc. with the development of technology, everyone wants to control different things at an ease.
There are systems which are deprived of providing these facilities on a single platform like one system will read the meter reading over the network through smart meter which is costly but will not allow you to pay the bill via credit card. Ultimately you will have to pay the bill in bank and many more things. Therefor “smart home” will facilitate its stakeholders under a single platform.
Technical details of the final deliverable contains all the files linked with the project. It will include the hardware components used for the demonstration of the project. Fan, bulb and relay shield, extension board and raspberry pi. We will control these IOT gadgets with android application. Android application includes Home Gadgets, Peak Hours, Complains, View Bill, Pay Bill Options, Estimate Bill, Report Electricity Theft, View Safety Manual, Helpine. In home gadgets, user can switch ON/OFF lights, fans, draw curtains, lock/unlock doors. In Peak Hours, user can see the peak hours of the current season.
