Smart distribution network
In our project we will talk about the distribution network .As we know our existing distribution network is not efficient and reliable, that is why we are facing many problems .Power Theft is a non ignorable crime and at the same time it directly affected the economy of a nation .When the fault occurs, it is difficult to detect the fault hence it is time consuming process. In conventional grid, information about theft of electricity is not available. Real time energy consumption data is not readily available.
Power theft is become the headache for the economy of any country .Because if we can’t get the money of the consumed units ,then distribution companies will suffer from huge loss. As a result they increase the price of electric unit to overcome this loss. If we talk about the facts, in our country we also face this problem. In the recent report of the Senate Committee on Circular Debt 2017-2018, reveals that the estimated cost of power theft during 2017-18 is over Rs53 billion. If we talk about the faults in the distribution network, in our existing system we also face this problem as well. Because we don’t have any technology to detect these fault.
So these are the problems of our existing distribution network .to overcome these problems we designed a smart distribution network which is smart enough to solve this issues.
Objectives:
There are several steps implement to complete the project
In this project we are using smart power meter which are fitted on both at the transmission and load side. These meters are capable of measuring power sent over the load and power consumed by the load over the time respectively. Both the parameters are sent to the base station wirelessly. Whenever there is a mismatch above the tolerance level parameters, then power theft is detected. The system will trigger the alarm to intimate to the concern authority so that they take necessary legal action and prevent power theft in the future. In addition we also provide the fault detection device in our distribution network which detects the fault in distribution lines.When the fault occur ,current sensor sense the fault and then transmit this information to control centre through IOT and then we sent the team to solve the issue at faulty line.
