Today we use many devices in which computer science plays an important role . Most of the work done is based on computer science. We give commands to our system to do specific task. We all are using smart phones and most of the work is done on smart phones. We make our transactions online and also pays our bills by using a smart phone. This all happens due to computer science in which we make the system able to perform a specific task.

We used many devices  in our daily life in which smart and secure voting system is one of them for casting vote from home. The goal of the smart and secure voting system is to improve the security and usability of traditional electoral systems.  In this project, we propose a system in which people cast their votes by using an online voting system.

 In Pakistan, the online voting system has not been implemented yet. People need to go to polling booths for casting votes. They need to stand in a long queue to cast vote. That’s why we have proposed an authenticated voting system which is very effective and useful in casting votes. We are working with different security levels. The first level is the CNIC-based/unique ID card, the second level is the fingerprint and the third level is SMS or Email authentication.

Project Objectives

The main objective of this system is to design:
•    An e-voting mechanism based on IoT
•    To avoid fraudulence and Malpractice by the voters
•    To improve the security performance by making fingerprint authentication.

Project Implementation Method

In this project, we are working with three different security levels. 

Level 1: CNIC or Unique ID Number:
When the voter is trying to register in the system, the system will request a CNIC number or a unique ID number. The entered unique ID or CNIC will be verified from the database provided by the election commission.

Level 2: Fingerprint authentication:
At this level, the face algorithm is used to verify the facial image of the voters from the database. This is the main security level of the system. If the right face detects then the voter will be able to cast vote.

Level 3: SMS or Email authentication:
After the vote has been cast by the voter, he received an email or an SMS on their mobile phone. This will ensure that the person has cast their vote successfully.
 

Benefits of the Project

Advantages of the proposed system:
•    It improves security performance
•    It prevents unregistered voters from voting.
•    Power consumption and manpower are less.
Our application will be one of the ways of conducting a credible election. This application is voting with the aid of electronic devices which have fingerprints and cameras. Electronic voting gives benefits to the voter to vote from anywhere. It will remove the barrier of compelling voters from one place to another. Electronic voting uses IT in voting which gives proper clarification where an average person can vote according to his own decision. It improves the security, awareness, and reliability of the voting process. It will also improve speed and reduce the cost as compared to the current voting process.Voting through mobile applications makes use of mobile devices to cast votes. This will improve effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction.

Furthermore, there are many objectives of electronic voting through mobile phones which includes:

•    Usability: It will increase the useability to achieve a specific task such as casting vote.
•    Democracy: Only those voters who are eligible to vote should be able to vote and they can vote only once. For checking this eligibility we will use CNIC details.
•    Accuracy: Invalid votes cannot be conducted. Only valid votes can be conducted

Online voting tools and online election voting systems help you make important decisions by gathering the input of your group in a way that’s systematic and verifiable. Oftentimes, these decisions are made on a yearly basis - during an event or at a particular time of the year. Or you might run ongoing polls amongst your group (e.g. anonymous employee feedback surveys). It’s a good idea to use an online voting system to:
•    Elect your leadership: 
A board of directors election is a good example, where there are multiple positions (e.g. chair, vice president, secretary, treasurer). All of which may include supporting documentation (e.g. biographies, resumés, headshots).

•    Admit new members to your group:
This helps you stick to a regular, fair process of evaluation and lets candidates know what to expect.

•    Gather anonymous feedback from your employees:
Managers (and managers of managers) want to know how their employees truly feel about their jobs and work life. Using an online voting system with a capacity for secret balloting helps employees express their true feelings, by understanding and trusting that their feedback will be heard, but not tied directly to them.

•    Vote on yearly budgets:
And since adjustments to your budget are often needed, an online voting system will keep voting secure and accessible - no matter where the members of your group may happen to be.

•    Alter your operational procedures and bylaws:
Just like leadership elections, expect group members to react strongly toward changes - no matter how minor - to organizational processes. You’ll want to collect individual responses to these changes in a systematic manner
