The mute/deaf individuals have a communication problem dealing with other people. It is hard for such individuals to express what they want to say since sign language is not understandable by everyone. This paper is to develop a Data Acquisition and Control (DAC) system that translates the sign language into text that can be read by anyone. This system is called Sign Language Translator
Sign-language, or hand-speak, has become a popular method of communicating for those who cannot verbally speak. The sign language is a language that uses the hand movements to express words and alphabets. People who are using the sign language were estimated just in china alone to exceed 80 million and those people always have a problem communicating with others who cannot understand the sign language.
This project aims to develop and evaluate a model that facilitates access for the deaf and hearing impaired to digital content - in particular the educational content and learning objects - creating the conditions for greater social inclusion of deaf and hearing impaired people. Access to digital content will be supported by an automatic translator between Portuguese Writing (LEP) and Portuguese Sign Language (LGP) supported by an interaction model.
We will make a system that detect the hands with camera for this we will use TENSERFLOW to read data set of images in a row and then using machine learning manage the data and make words with these gestures. The apparatus that we will use is just only camera and system.
After making the words we will use talkit library for converting words into voice. Initially we will start from simple and initial speaking words and make machine able to talk with non-speaking people.
Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) is the language choice for most deaf in the Pakistan. It uses approximately 6,000 gestures for common words and finger spelling for communicating obscure words or proper nouns. Previous study have concentrated on obtaining the hands by using their skin color. Gestures are represented by a sequence of critical points (local minima and maxima) of the motion of the hand and. In sign language meaning is conveyed using several parts of the body in parallel (Huenerfauth), not solely the hands which is a common misconception, but the SL phonemes are articulated using the hands and example of those include hand shape and palm orientation.
Our project has large scope for our society. In Pakistan 3.3 million people are dumb. There are communication barrier. We can also use it for educational purpose and dumb persons can learn with us then can sit with us, talk with us. We can hear the voice of those people who can’t make words with voice. We will convert their words of signs into words of voice.
