RFID based library managment system
Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryRadio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a new generation of Auto Identification and Data collection technology which helps to automate business processes and allows identification of large number of tagged objects like books, using radio waves. RFID based Library Management system (LMS) would allow fast transaction flow for the library and will prove immediate and long term benefits to library in traceability and security. The proposed system is based on UHF RFID readers, supported with antennas at gate and desk sections, and library cards containing RFID-transponders which are able to electronically store information that can be read / written even without the physical contact with the help of radio medium.
Project Objectives- First objective is to facilitates the fast issuing, reissuing and returning of books with the help of RFID enabled modules.
- Second objective is to provides the book information and library member information to the library management system and does not need the manual typing.
- The main aim of this project is providing an easy to handle and automated library management system.
We have established a database with the help of RFID.This database contains the book information and Student Information. We are using 2 RFID modules(RC-522).First one is placed at a gate to provide access those people to the library who are authorized with RFID cards.Second RFID module is placed at desk to automate the library management system. From this module member can check the stock of library and can issue re-issue and return book .
TFT touch screen LCD is used .On the TFT LCD we have established a GUI(graphical user interface) to perform actions like registering of student, book data in database and issuing and reissuing of book.
Registration of Book:
When we have scanned the unknown RFID tag to the RC-522 reader module placed at desk the GUI menu on the TFT LCD has opened ,where we have added the book name, author name. After that by clicking on “Register ” book has been registered in the database.
Registration of Student:
Again we have scanned the unknown RFID tag to the RC-522 reader module placed at desk the GUI menu on the TFT LCD has opened ,where we have added the student name, roll number. After that by clicking on “Register ” student has been registered registered.
Libraries Book Information:
When a person wants to know the stock of library he can do this by simply scaning his card to RC-522 module placed at the desk and and the issued book details and remaining book details will be opened on the TFT LCD.
Entrance Level:
First RFID reader module RC522 is placed at the gate. When a person wants to make access to the library he will scan his RFID card to reader module.Only that person could make access to library who has been authorized with registered RFID tag.
Issue Process:
When a user wants to issue the book he will go to second RFID placed at the desk and then firstly he will place the book’s card infront of reader module and then he will place his own card to reader module and that book will be issued against his name. Finally a message is displayed informing the user that the ISSUE has been successful
Return Process:
When a user wants to return the book he will go again to second RFID reader module placed at the desk and then again he will place the book’s card infront of reader module firstly and then he will place his own card to reader module and and the books automatically are adjusted for return against the user’s name.
Benefits of the Project- It would be a highly secured and authenticated system.
- Time consumption would lessen as the system is fully automatic.
- It would be an easy and convenient system.
RFID based library management system would provide the book identification. This system will provide the anti theft control. From this module member can check the stock of library and can issue re-issue and return book .This system will provide inventory control, and for the sorting and conveying of library books.
