Project Summary

Our project name is RVM (Reverse Vending Machine). Its main objective is to take plastic bottles and return the customer with cash depending on the size and quantity of the bottles. During the process pure PETE(Polyethylene Terephthalate) plastic can be collected that can further be sold to a manufacturing/recycling company. The major outcomes of our project are improved living, renewable energy, emission control, and efficient resource utilization.

Project Objectives

The use of RVM in other countries especially European ones have greatly improved their lifestyle by recycling plastic. Considering this we come up with an idea that why can’t we implement the RVM in Pakistan as environmental pollution is becoming a severe problem day by day because it is being used at an unimaginable amount in the country. We cannot stop the ever-increasing demand for plastic but could find a way to recycle and reduce environmental pollution in the upcoming years.

Project Implementation Method

Our aim is to decrease the plastic waste in our country which would contribute to decreasing overall pollution worldwide. We want our RVM accessible across Pakistan so that we can recycle plastic as much as possible. With its quick transactions and user-friendly interface, it will be easier to use by the customers. We want our machine to be energy efficient. We want to give our customers better incentives.

Currently, we have worked on a conveyor belt, GUI programming and have designed its interface.

Benefits of the Project

The RVM can provide a better solution for collecting PET plastics which will help our environment. It will be energy efficient. It will have an online payment option. It gives people money benefits from collecting plastics. It makes plastic a renewable resource. Makes recycling convenient as it is fast and clean, and this motivates repeated use in combination with the instant reward. Offers a proven solution that keeps litter off the streets and reduces the need for other expensive waste programs.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

At the final stage of a developing project. We would have installed a conveyor belt with multiple sensors attached to it inside a frame. There will be an LCD which will display the GUI of the machine. the PET plastic will get crushed inside the machine and then it will be stored for collection.
