In the world of Internet of Things (IoT) when we have all the technologies to revolutionize our life, it's a great idea to develop a system which can be controlled and monitored from anywhere. The Internet of Things is a concept to make every system connected with the Internet. This concept can be used for home security in an effective way. We developed IoT enabled system to send security alert to user/owner of the home using GSM module and pictures of the intruder through Email.

Project Objectives

Objectives of this project is to identify the intruder through images and send SMS alert to user/owner of the house or any police station.

Project Implementation Method

Different sensors are used to detect the presence of any person and a Pi Camera is used to capture the images when the presence  detected. Whenever intruder detected by the sensors, Raspberry pi sends commands to Pi camera to click the picture and save it. After it, Raspberry Pi creates a mail and sends it to the defined mail address with recently clicked images. The mail contains a message and picture of intruder as attachment. Here the pictures are saved in Raspberry Pi with the name which itself contains the time and date of entry. So that we can check the time and date of intruder entry by just looking at the picture name.

Benefits of the Project

The presence of a home security system provides many families with a peace of mind knowing that their home is protected from a variety of devastating scenarios. When home owners are elderly, incapacitated in some way or frequently left home alone, this peace of mind is invaluable. For the elderly who may be unable to get out of a home with the speed required in many dangerous situations, home security systems dispatch authorities that are capable of assisting. For those who are incapacitated and unable to leave the home, home security systems not only monitor all areas of the home, but again, they dispatch authorities when needed.
