Project Summary

the population and industrialization in Pakistan is growing rapidly. Due to this, the generations of waste products in the form of MSW, Kitchen waste and garbage etc are highly increasing. According to an estimate 7.12 million tons per annum waste is produced in 9 major cities of Pakistan and increasing with 2.5% per year. Luckily, this waste has a full source of energy and there is a great opportunity in the form of generation of energy from these waste products.

Instead of burning waste and affecting the environment in Pakistan there is an option of leading toward waste to energy program initiatives. The solution that is proposed for the management of Municipal Solid Waste is to extract organic properties from these wastes and through processing techniques this byproduct will be use as a source of electricity, domestic and CNG purposes. As related to current scenario of Pakistan, the solution that is proposed to address the above mentioned weakness is the use of Anaerobic digestion method. Anaerobic digestion and composting are two well proven and well established method for management of organic wastes. To decrease the environmental pollution the anaerobic digestor decomposes the organic material and thus there is no net production of green house gases. Although in packed environment of digestor methane and carbon dioxide will be produced but these are captured as a biogas for fuel and power generation and the carbondoxiode production can also be controlled using diffrent methods,so it can also reduces the air pollution produces from harmful gases emited to the atomsphere.

Project Objectives

To use the sewage waste as a source for biogas generation instead of cow dung.
To analyse the biogas generated and it's efficiency for meeting the fuel requirements
and how its overcome energy crisis in pakistan
To reduce the air pollution produce from harmful gases emitted to the atmosphere.

Project Implementation Method

 The production of biogas from  biomass the energy generated in the form of biogas is in uncompressed state.gas is compressed using compressor.the compressed gas is source of energy which can be directly used for heating purposes.then we use the gas as primemover for the generator which convert the gas into electrical energy

Benefits of the Project

Generation of energy from biomass used in number of applications. These applications have direct positive effects on a society/customer. The production of biogas from biomass waste provide three secondary benefits.From biomass the energy generated in the form of biogas is in uncompressed state which will be use for heating purposes.When biogas is generated then after compressing, it can be used as a medium of ignition for vehicles and also be used as fuel in the form CNG as biogas consists of 50%-60% methane.Another important application of methane biogas generated from organic waste products is the formation of negative ions. These negative ions are used for Bio-medical purposes. These negative ions help in providing relief to asthma patients.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

 The theme of biomass energy project is that the input in the form of garbage, solid waste will be collected from public and output in the form of bio-energy will be utilized by public which act as customers/consumers. The biomass energy project is closed loop process. The public is direct beneficiaries of bio-energy project. The input which is waste, MSW and garbage etc will be collected from community houses and then from there transfer to pre-processing plants. At output when energy will be generated then it will be directly under the use of community/society.
