Intellectual disability in the disabled and normal children may seriously affect the children's growth and general mental abilities.

Intellectual disability in children may affect two types of functioning as follows: -

1)       Intellectual functioning that deals with Learning, Problem Solving and Judgment.

2)      Adaptive functioning that monitors the activities of daily life of the children including Independent living and Communication.

Currently, such assessments are performed manually by the users, moreover, the assessment activities to be tested are time and effort consuming for the instructors. Therefore, it is required to develop a portable mobile app to assist the involved stakeholders.

We are aiming to develop assess the intellectual disability in the children, where the instructor or parents may assess the intellectual disabilities in their children well before time through standard questions of intellectual disabilities. The app will be comprised of two modules including the admin and instructor. Admin can add different categories of questions and also may add the instructor. Questions are divided in different categories according to child age. Instructor can add child details, may perform its assessment and may look in to his history in follow up checkups. For assisting the children and parents, audio of the question and a short demo video related to the question will be added to let the child understand the activity he/she has to perform. After the performance of the activities of different categories, the instructor/parents can submit results in the form of rating stars that show how well a child has performed the required activity. At the end of one module, the result of the category will be visualized in the form of a percentage on the screen. Subsequently, the next activity will be started and the same action will be performed. After evaluation, the result will be stored in the database and the overall result of the child with every question percentage will be visualized.

This project will provide a portable application for the users to assess the intellectual disabilities. The specific objectives include the following:

Benefits of the Project

Instructor and Parents will not be needed to perform the demo of the question to understand the activity because a short demo video related to the question will be added for the child to understand what task he/she will have to do for a question.
