Project Title

PLC BASED TRANSMISSION LINE FAULT DETECTION AT MULTIPLE STAGES WITH MONITORING ANT IOT

Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary

In this project we have concluded that Pakistan Power Sector is able to do effective operations regarding the transmission line faults.Power Sector can reduce the faults but also secure the appliances of Consumers via Automation.Iot integration in Power Sector helps to respond immediately in favor of expected transmission line faults.Iot not only email fault alerts but also show current status at web interface. If we automate the system of Transmission Lines in Pakistan so we can easily achieve better results that are fruitful for Power Sector and Customers Side both.

Project Objectives

Automate Symmetrical and Asymmetrical Faults.

Email Alarm against Phase missing.

Project Implementation Method

In this project, the focus of applied methodology is to discuss the suggested components that are gathered for shaping of a Prototype product that is to be work very easily with the components are mentioned as below: 1. PLC 2. HMI 3. Power Relays 4. Relay Modules 5. Selector switches 6. Pilot Indicators 7. IOT Module

Discussing from the following: • In this project the main controller is Delta TP 70 which carry 8 Digital I/Os,4 Analog Inputs and two Analog Outputs. • Digital Inputs are used for controlling three phases and faults • Digital Inputs X0,X1 and X2 are engaged in controlling of three phases A,B and C respectively. • Digital Inputs X3,X4 and X5 are engaged in creating Asymmetrical Faults in different phases like A,B and C. • Digital Inputs X6 and X7 are engaged in creating Symmetrical Fault and Short Circuit respectively. • Digital Outputs Y0,Y1 and Y2 are engaged to activate indicators of different phases. • Digital Outputs Y3,Y4 and Y5 are engaged to activate indicators of Asymmetrical faults of different phases. • Digital Outputs Y6 and Y7 are engaged to activate indicators of Symmetrical Fault and Short Circuit respectively. • Analog Controlling is involved in this project for checking Low Voltages and High Voltages of different phases. • Delta TP70 HMI is used to display Graphical representation of different Parameters and Indicators. • IOT Module is used for sending emails in favour of different faults.

Benefits of the Project

In this project we have analyzed that automation in power sector able to make that system efficient. In Future,we can shape our power sector efficiently with smart maintenance and consumer friendly. We will able to reduce transmission line faults but also we can protect appliances of Consumers against Weak Phase and Short Circuit.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We can automate following via PLC/HMI/IOT:

Phase (A,B, and C) Voltages

Symmetrical Faults

Asymmetrical Faults
