Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryThe Optimum Path Generator (OPG) Bot is a robotic car with different sensors attached with it which is used to generate a virtual 2-Dimentional Map of any location into which it is placed. The OPG Bot is able to manuever in any plain area/compound automatically and simultaneously generate the virtual map. This map will be displayed on a backend system. The Bot will be wirelessly connected.with the backend system. Once the map of the environment is completely made, then afterwards, using different algorithms the optimum path available to a specific location or point inside this map will be calculated. This optimum path will be calculated based on the distance, number of obstacles in the way, and many other factors. Both the map and the Optimum path will be displayed on the backend system to the user of the OPG Bot.
Project ObjectivesThe Objectives of the project are:
- To make a robotic car capable of maneuvering autonomously.
- Attachment of different sensors, Raspberry PI, and Arduino to the Car.
- Object detection and avoidance capabailites to be included into the Bot.
- Simultaneous movement and map generation to be implemented.
- Video feed from camera to the backend system
- Wireless connection of the Bot with the backend system.
- Getting values from the attached sensors and generating a virtual 2D map.
- Calculating the Optimum path available to any specified location.
- Displaying the Map and the Optimum path to the user
- The team will be using Raspberry Pi and Arduino as the processing units for the OPG Bot. These will be implanted on the OPG Bot.
- Different sensors, including the Ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04 will be used to calculate the distance of the OPG Bot from the objects in all the directions from it.
- 6 to 8 sensors will be placed on each direction of the OPG Bot to get a full 360 degree view of the location.
- Matlab and Python will be used for the coding and implementation
- The user can have remote access to the OPG Bot for controlling the movement of the Bot.
- A camera module will be used to show the user where the Bot actually is in the compound at the moment
- Optimum path will be calculated using algorithms on the backend system
The OPG Bot can be very benefitial for people in different industries explained below:
FOR MILITARY INDUSTRY:
In Military, The OPG Bot will be used to generate a map of an unknown terrorist compound. Before the soldiers go in to attack the terrorist compound, they will have all the information regarding the location that where all the rooms are located and how big is the compound.
Other than this if it is a rescue mission then the OPG Bot will be informative in showing the Optimum path available to reach to the specific location of the hostage and soldiers will be able to rescue the hostage with greater efficieny
FOR RESCUE FORCES:
In case of any natural disastor e.g. an Earthquake or a Tornado, the buildings get destroyed and wrecked. Now the OPG Bot will be sent to any devastated building and it will generate the virtual map of the building which will help the rescue team in their mission of saving any human lives.
FOR ARCHITECTS:
Architects need to get a view of their working environments where they have to do some project. The OPG Bot will show them a 2D View of their working space so that they can have an idea as to how they will go on to build any type of building on that location.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe technical details of the final deliverable are:
- It will be a robotic car with Raspberry Pi installed on it.
