Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryAt the end of this project we want to provide a chamber that can help test the desired insulators in a controlled environment. We hope to test the effects of humidity, heat and UV radiations of any desired area in the world through this chamber. We want to attain the required environment for testing without going to that place.
Project ObjectivesThe aim is to provide a Multistress aging chamber for insulators under high voltage stresses. We aim to combine the previously available chambers for efficiency to provide aging test results under AC as well as DC voltage and to provide lab testing instead of real life testing for researchers. Testing the insulators in the designated area requires a lot of resources plus we need to go to those areas to perform long term climatic tests. Our project will reduce cost and provide all sorts of environments that can be tested inside that chamber. Let’s suppose we install a newly introduced polymer insulator in the area we want it to be in we would have to install it in the open without any lab test since we don’t have anything to test climatic changes on the insulators and if it fails which is highly likely we would be wasting a lot of valuable material an time so this chamber will help us with the reduction in waste of valuable resources. Since it is a new concept one of our major objective is to provide a platform for further research on this in our career plus it will also provide a platform for those students who in the future want to develop this project and upgrade what we try to do.
